7 minute readAmanda Seyfried has moved on (at least for now) since her days as Sophie in the Mamma Mia series, earning her first Oscar nomination in 2021 with a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for the 2020 film Mank.
Seyfried is quite private when it comes to her personal life, but she does post a lot of photos of her dog, Finn.
But she has another great love in her life. That’s my husband, Thomas Sadosky.
In 2013, Seyfried spoke to Elle about her love life and the importance of sex appeal in relationships.
“Everyone I’ve ever dated, I was immediately sexually attracted to them,” she said at the time. “A spark doesn’t grow. Just because you’re around doesn’t make your vagina any more inclined to want someone.” At the time, she told ELLE of her “aspiration”: “[He’s]a different person than my life in the industry. I’ve known him since he was 16… I always think of him as the father of my children, but now that’s a fantasy.”
In late 2013, Seyfried began dating actor Justin Long, but the two broke up in September 2015. “He wanted to get married, but she wasn’t ready to make that commitment,” a source told Page Six at the time, adding that she might also start something up with a new partner.
Seyfried and Sadosky met on the set of their first film, The Way We Get By (2009), and by March 2016, the two were in a committed relationship. The two were engaged by September 2016 and were expecting their first child, daughter Nina, by early 2017.
In 2020, they shared that they welcomed son Thomas. So who is Seyfried’s long-time partner? Here’s what we know:
He grew up in Texas.
According to WWD, Sadoski was born in Texas. At the age of four, she moved with her parents to College Station, Texas, and by the time she was in high school, she knew she wanted to pursue acting. He tried college for three months. “It didn’t work out for me and it didn’t work out for them, so we mutually parted ways.” He moved to New York and studied at the Circle in the Square Theater School.

Sadoski has spent much of her career on stage, earning a Tony Award nomination for Reasons to Be Pretty (2009).
“For most of my career, I’ve remained firmly focused on figuring out what to do next and controlling everything,” he told WWD. “I came to a point in my life where I thought my job was to just follow the path laid out in front of me.”

Seyfried is his second wife.
Before Seyfried, Sadoski was reportedly married to Kimberly Hope for eight years. The two broke up in 2015.
In 2018, Seyfried told PorterEdit that when he met Sadoski during production of the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By, he realized how much he respected his then-wife. She said that they were friends at first, but that he helped her when she had a panic attack on stage.
“We both had bad relationships,” she said. She added, “They never cheated and never disrespected his wife. That was another reason I later thought I could marry him.”
As the two were dissolving their respective relationships, Seyfried suggested Sadosky as a love interest in the 2017 film The Last Word with Shirley MacLaine. It was then that their romantic relationship grew. “It was amazing,” Seyfried said. “I felt healthy, free and clean. I can tell this story without feeling guilty.”
Seyfriend and Sadoski married shortly before welcoming their daughter. “I really wanted to keep the ring on at the hospital, right?” she told PorterEdit. “So, what if something goes wrong and he’s not legally my husband?” According to the magazine, she bought a dress at Free People, got married in Topanga, Calif., and then went to her favorite neighborhood cafe on Sunset Boulevard in Chibo.
Nina was born less than two weeks later.
He stands up for what he knows is right.
Seyfriend said in 2017 that Sadosky was fired from his job for publicly supporting Jessica Walter. Walter claimed that he was “verbally harassed” by his Arrested Development co-star Jeffrey Tambor.
“This is a somewhat recent post from my husband, who stood by a horrible woman who was recently bullied and recently lost his job because of it,” she wrote. “I’d rather speak out and lose. All integrity, ladies and gentlemen.”
Sadoski’s original post read:
“This is Jessica Walter. She is truly a national treasure. It was an honor and privilege to work with her. I don’t care who you think you are, how good you think you are, how great you think your friend/father is. It’s not ‘part of the job’ to scream at someone.” That’s bullshit. That is irreversible bullshit and will never be accepted. It wasn’t cool in the 70’s or 80’s or when shitty shit was “coming out”. It was bullshit then, and it’s bullshit now. And it is pathetic to condone such behavior. Just pathetic. When I was a kid, I worked in a kitchen full of greasy spoons. It wasn’t tolerated there and most of us were on strong drugs. What a man and a child millionaire do on the set of a cozy TV show is certainly not acceptable. And it’s even more unacceptable for his male cast mates to excuse it in front of the person for whom it happened… (wait for it)… while she’s trying to explain how traumatic that experience was. What’s going on with Halfpenny?!”
He loves being a father.
Back in 2017, Sadosky admitted that she was “terrified” of becoming a parent, but has since embraced the role. After the birth of his first daughter, he told Fatherly about his favorite part of being a dad: “When my daughter discovers something new. That’s the coolest thing in the world. Every time she does that, I get choked up.”
He uses his platform for good.
Sadoski and Seyfried are ambassadors for War Child, a nonprofit organization that helps children living in conflict zones. At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the couple led a massive donation campaign to support philanthropy.
“The unfortunate reality is that there are people in this world that the rest of us literally cannot afford to turn a blind eye to. And I don’t mean economically, but I mean literally their lives are at risk,” Sadoski told People magazine. “That’s kind of why we found ourselves particularly drawn to this organization right now.”
Sadoski added that being a father motivated him to continue supporting children of war. “I think all parents should be able to empathize with the suffering of innocent children. It’s just something that is deeply, inherently part of us that we want to protect our little ones.”
Seyfried and Sadosky will celebrate their fifth anniversary in 2022.
Seyfried recognized the milestone on Instagram, sharing a photo of her and Sadoski with the caption, “5 years.”
The two co-starred in “The Crowded Room.”
Seyfried and Sadosky shared the screen on the Apple TV+ series “The Crowded Room.” The first season of the anthology is inspired by Daniel Keyes’ novel The Mind of Billy Milligan. The filming took place in 2022, and paparazzi managed to capture several photos of Seyfried and Sadoski together on set.
The couple ultimately attended the premiere together in June 2023, a rare joint event for the two.
Seyfried and Sadoski keep their lives largely private.
Seyfried rarely shares photos of Sadoski on Instagram, instead focusing on her work and the animals she raises together on her farm in upstate New York. On January 1, 2024, she reflected on her world a little and wrote: “I’m worried and anxious about this new year, but I’m grateful that so many things can come true at once. I also feel lucky that my starting point is here with my family (not pictured except for my dad and the mountains I call home).”
Seyfried said she became more cautious about her work after marrying Sadoski and starting a family.
Seyfried told Grazia in 2022: “A few years ago, I was always working and I was worried that if I took a break, I wouldn’t be able to go back to work. But now I have a husband who loves work as much as I do, and I have two children who want someone to be there for them. That’s why I only accept roles that I think are impossible to pass up.”
The two attended the opening ceremony of the musical in November 2024.
Although they rarely appear in public, the couple attended the opening performance of the Avett Brothers Broadway musical “Swept Away” at the Longacre Theater in New York City on November 19th.
Seyfried revealed that she went to couples therapy in 2025.
In a December 2025 interview with Who What Wear, Seyfried reflected on getting older and shared snippets about her personal life at home.
“I know that life gets harder as you get older, but I also know that I’m pretty prepared because I worked a lot of jobs in my 10 years in my 30s,” she explained. “I’ve had a lot of couples therapy. I’ve had a lot of solo therapy as well. I’ve had so many conversations with psychologists and psychologist friends that I feel like I know a lot about myself. It’s not everything, but it certainly helps a lot.”
In January 2026, Seyfried addressed Sadosky’s sweet comments about her performance.
Attending the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards on January 4, Seyfried told E! On her husband’s praise for her performance in The Testament of Ang Lee. Sadoski emailed E! reporter Justin Sylvester about various aspects of her work on the film, writing in her notes, “She did a great job” seven times.
“What a sweet person,” Seyfried said. “Thank you for doing this.”
