Summers Valli confirmed through an Instagram she shared on January 2 that she is pregnant with her first child with Melton. The post, captioned “Building a little family 🪺,” included editorial-style portraits and candid moments of Melton lying next to her during a doctor’s appointment.
She and Melton kept their relationship out of the public eye.
Despite Melton’s high profile, neither he nor Summers Valli have spoken publicly about their relationship.
Melton has previously addressed the public scrutiny surrounding her relationships. In a March 2019 interview with Hunger magazine, he said, “Honestly, people need to worry about their own shitty jobs.”
“I don’t have Twitter, which is one of the reasons I don’t read all the comments on social media, because people are always trying to talk,” he continued. “Even before this era of Instagram, people were always going to talk no matter what. But back then, people didn’t tend to listen to what someone was talking about about themselves. To be honest, it’s not their place to have authority over my relationship. Not everyone is going to be an advocate or a fan of your relationship. People need to remember that opinions aren’t facts.”
She is a film director, filmmaker, and photographer.
Summers Valli is a multidisciplinary director and visual artist whose work includes music videos, fashion campaigns, and documentaries.
Her commercial and editorial collaborators include The New York Times, Burberry, Hermès, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
One of Summers Valli’s most widely known projects is the music video for Haim’s 2025 single “Relationships.”
In addition to music, Summers Valli has also built a substantial portfolio in fashion filmmaking. She shot Burberry’s Highgrove Gardens campaign, which featured actors Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael and Sope Dirisu.
Daniel Lee, Burberry’s chief creative officer, said of the campaign: “Taking on our admired actors to wear our collection was the best way to bring our clothes to life.”
She also has deep roots in documentary filmmaking.
Summers Valli’s breakthrough project was 2015’s Big Mountain, a documentary exploring the lives of a Navajo family in Arizona. According to It’s Nice That, she spent years integrating into the community before filming.
Reflecting on the project, Summers Valli said, “My relationship with them started as a shepherd and a supporter. I would herd their sheep, help them chop wood, do whatever was needed, because they always needed young people to help them continue their work.”
“For the first three years, I didn’t really pick up a camera. When I started shooting, I was already part of the furniture,” she added. “That meant there was a certain level of trust already. And I think they liked the fact that I would gather the sheep and then come back and film it. They knew my intentions were in the right place.”
According to One Point Four, the documentary was premiered in collaboration with the ICA and MoMA.
She studied at Central Saint Martins.
According to Lark Creative, Summers Valli studied video art at Central Saint Martins and graduated in 2014. Her early work was exhibited at the ICA and her films have been screened at festivals such as Cannes Lions and Sheffield Dock/Fest.

Summers-Valli has won numerous awards for his directorial work. Her music video collaborations have won Cyclop Festival Awards, including the Grand Prix, as well as Music Video of the Year at the 2023 UK Music Video Awards.
In 2022, Ad Age named her a Director to Watch as part of the outlet’s Creativity Awards, recognizing her influence across advertising, fashion and film.
