The pop icon has had a difficult year recovering after being hospitalized for septic shock in the summer of 2023. In July 2024, she celebrated her health with a post that included shots of Morris.
“Happy Independence Day!” she wrote. “One year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after overcoming a life-threatening illness and could barely stand in my backyard with a single sparkler. I made a miraculous recovery and have had an amazing year. Thank you, God. Life is beautiful!”
In the photos, she can be seen walking on her boyfriend’s arm, enjoying fireworks together on a rooftop, and relaxing with him on the couch. Here’s what we know so far about Morris’ relationship with Madonna.
Who is Hakeem Morris?
The 28-year-old soccer player was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He eventually moved to New York for college and attended Stony Brook University. He played soccer during his school days and later played for Premier League team Oyster Bay United FC. He doesn’t seem to have much of a social media presence, but he appears to be currently living in New York City.

In 2022, Morris appeared in a photo shoot for the cover of Paper Magazine’s August issue. The singer dated boxer Joshua Popper for most of 2023, and possibly longer. Therefore, it is unlikely that they had a romantic relationship at the time. She and Popper broke up around the spring of 2024.
It appears they have been dating since at least July 2024, considering he was seen in her Fourth of July photo.

She created a buzz with her photos. She posted several photos of herself getting intimate on a merry-go-round and captioned it, “Hot summer fun.”
They went to Italy for her birthday.
On August 16th, Madonna celebrated her 66th birthday in Italy with Morris. They were photographed walking through Portofino, Italy. Madonna wore a black dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Morris went out to lunch with a friend wearing a knit top and white shorts.
On August 17, gossip account DeuxMoi shared a photo of her wearing white clothes heading to the singer’s birthday party on a boat.
On Aug. 23, she shared photos from the celebration, including several shots of Morris at the merry-go-round. In one photo, she is seen taking a picture of him on her mobile phone with the city in the background. In another photo, they pose side by side and look charming.
“Arrived in Rome!!! The perfect end to a glorious birthday celebration with friends and family!” Madonna wrote in the caption. “Ciao Italia!!!!”
The couple attended Billie Eilish’s show in October 2024.
On Thursday, October 17th, the Daily Mail published a photo of Madonna and Morris attending Billie Eilish’s show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. TikToker @karinarykman also posted a clip of the couple talking from their seats while watching the show.
They were dressed in Halloween themed couple costumes.
On November 1st, Madonna posted a photo from her Halloween night with Morris on Instagram, revealing the couple’s costumes. The pop star was a statue of a crying Madonna, while Morris played a nun.
“On Halloween, I was Madonna crying…” Madonna wrote in the caption. “All my friends came to pray with me 🎃👻😵.”
Morris also shared a photo from the night in which they posed together and wrote, “Give the devil peace…👺.”
He posted a photo of her around Thanksgiving.
In November, Morris shared a shot of Madonna sitting on his lap. The pop star wore a black dress and net gloves. In other photos posted on Carousel, Morris showed off a fireplace with a cross, a beautifully lit pool, and a selfie.
He also appeared in Madonna’s vacation photo merry-go-round. In the caption, she wrote, “We are born into families and build families of our own. As time goes on, I have become more and more grateful for the microcosm of life that dances around me and teaches me lessons every day.”
They spent Christmas together in December 2024.
Madonna posted a reel on Instagram over Christmas, which included shots of her children and Morris. In one photo, he rests his hand on her thigh while wearing an “M” ring.
The couple set foot in New York City in February 2025.
Madonna and Morris spent the last weekend of February together on New York City’s Upper West Side, making their first major public appearance of the year. Madonna was photographed wearing a long black coat, scarf and black sunglasses. Morris kept it casual in a white jacket and khaki pants.
