Emme Maribel Muniz is the eldest of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s 17-year-old twins. They sang with Lopez at the 2020 Super Bowl and are preparing to go to college next year. Lopez has been vocal about how close they are.
Emme Maribel Muniz has long been in the spotlight since she made headlines at the age of 11 during her mother Jennifer Lopez’s appearance during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. Now 17 years old, Emme and her twin brother Max are preparing for university and are actively attending red carpet events with their mother.
Here’s what you need to know about Lopez’s eldest son (just 11 minutes).
They have pipes.
At the Super Bowl, Muniz sang a J.Lo classic and a Bruce Springsteen classic almost in the same breath. They obviously inherited all the good genes of their parents. They didn’t seem to have any stage fright and were bold enough to try to outwit their mother.
They have twin brothers.
Emme has incredibly talented twins. His name is Maximilian and he used to appear in a youth production of The Wizard of Oz. To no one’s surprise, he is an excellent singer. And he’s very good at riding hoverboards and bringing drinks.
Their father is Marc Anthony and their baby photos cost a lot of money.
When Emme and Maximilian were born in February 2008, the New York Times reported that People paid more than $5 million for exclusive photos of Lopez and the twins to be featured on magazine covers and magazine pages.
They also appear in music videos.
Emme appeared with her mother in J. Lo’s “Limitless” music video, and even made it look like she was lip-syncing the lyrics perfectly.
They can sing Alicia Keys.
Young Emme did it easily. Skip to 4:10 of this video to see them sing “If I Ain’t Got You.” J.Lo shed a tear, and you might too.
Lopez publicly introduced Emme with they/them pronouns in 2022.
In June 2022, during a performance at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala, Lopez introduced Emme using gender-neutral pronouns. He brought his 14-year-old girlfriend on stage for a surprise duet and told the audience: “The last time we played together was in a stadium this big and I always ask people to sing with me and they never do. So this is a very special day. They’re very, very busy. They’re booked and they’re expensive. They cost money when they come out. But they’re my favorite duet partners, so it’s worth every penny. So if you’ll indulge me.”
In 2024, they celebrated their 16th birthday in Tokyo.
Lopez’s trip to Japan marked a big milestone for the twins. On February 23, the singer shared an Instagram Reel of the 16-year-old exploring Tokyo with friends, with the caption, “16 🥥🥥 Birthday Trip 2024 🤍🤍.”
One clip showed a group wearing traditional Japanese kimonos sitting on the floor whipping up matcha tea. “I’ve never seen Max so excited,” Lopez said at the beginning of the video. “I’ve never seen myself so excited,” Emme replied.
Lopez shared rare footage from Emme’s childhood on her 17th birthday.
To celebrate her twins’ 17th birthday, Lopez posted a heartfelt Instagram reel filled with memories from her childhood to her teenage years. The video included home footage of the pair playing with their mother backstage, sharing hugs, and relaxing at home. Lopez also added selfies taken over the years. “I love you beyond eternity 🥥🥥,” she wrote in the caption.
They made a stylish red carpet appearance at the Broadway premiere of Othello in March 2025.
Lopez and Emme attended the opening night of Othello at the Barrymore Theater in New York City on March 23, turning the night into a coordinated fashion moment. Lopez wore a crystal-embellished two-piece from Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection, which she teamed with a dramatic coat and silver hoops. Emme opted for a gray button-up pinstripe suit, black tie, and a Vivienne Westwood necklace.
Lopez posted a photo of them together on the red carpet on her Instagram with the caption, “Othello premiere was the best date ever✨.”
They are preparing to go to university.
In an October 2025 interview with Live With Kelly and Mark, Lopez revealed that Emme and her twin brother Max are looking to the future as they prepare to graduate high school. “Today I am visiting a university,” she said. “It’s happening. They’re leaving. They’re leaving.”
The singer reflected on the change in his emotions, adding, “I’m happy because I remember an exciting time in my life when I thought, ‘Oh, I’m thinking about what I want to do with my life.'” It’s an exciting adventure and I want that for them too. But I also think, “Oh, I’m going to be alone.” ”
Lopez said she is focused on maintaining a home where her children always feel connected. “Ever since my kids were born, I’ve always thought that no matter what it is, no matter what we make, when the three of us are together, it’s always like, ‘When I come home, it feels good. It smells like home, it tastes like home.'”
She added, “They’re 17 years old, and they’ll be 18 in February. They’re graduating from high school this June, and now I feel like we’re all three of us closer together. We’ve had a lot of things happen and we’ve had to bond.”
Lopez wouldn’t say what the twins plan on studying, but she recently told CBS Sunday Morning that Emme is a “musical theater kid.” As she says, “They go to musical camp and do all the shows, and I get to go see them, which is great.”
