Apparently the Midwest isn’t used to divas.
Alicia Keys’ temporary stay in Cleveland is causing some confusion for local residents who live in luxury apartments, sources tell Page Six.
The singer set up a drilling facility in his Ohio penthouse while launching a touring production of his Broadway hit “Hell’s Kitchen.”
I’ve also heard that residents are furious that managers stop the elevators every time they enter or leave the building.
“She’s like Queen Elizabeth. Even the streets[in the neighborhood]were blocked off one night,” a source told Page Six.
Keyes is said to be staying for two weeks at the luxury building, which also includes Mayor Justin Bibb as a tenant.
Despite some grumpy townspeople, not all Clevelanders are grumpy about Keyes, especially theatergoers.
I’ve heard that some local fans were so excited about her visit to the Buckeye State that they tried to crash her kickoff party with the cast over the weekend. (They didn’t go in).
Still, whether it’s a cast party or not, there’s a true New Yorker “Hell’s Kitchen” feel throughout the city.
On Tuesday, Carl Michael Igeresias, a community engagement fellow at Kaleidoscope Dreams Foundation, an organization that “works with local communities to create arts programs,” hosted a ’90s-themed block party to celebrate the Tony Award-winning musical.
In a social media post promoting the free event at Playhouse Square Plaza, he said, “All of Cleveland is in our hearts.”
DJ Steph Floss provided the music and Momma’s Deli provided the food. The video’s caption reads, “A taste of New York is coming to The Land.”
And one that screams New York flavor louder than Block Party or Alicia Keys. It’s unclear whether she showed up or not, but she definitely brought her artistic Five Boroughs vibe to ‘The Land’.
