“Everybody Hates Chris” is a semi-autobiographical comedy inspired by Chris Rock’s teenage years growing up in 1980s Brooklyn.

The show, which aired in 2005, followed young Chris, played by Tyler James Williams, as he navigates school, family turmoil, and the daily struggles of a child with big dreams. At home, the frugal and hardworking Julius is played by Terry Crews and his strict and serious parents, played by Tichina Arnold as the fiercely protective Rochelle.

With Rock’s unmistakable voice recounting every awkward victory and heartbreaking defeat, the series balanced humor and real-life lessons. Well, let’s take a look at where the cast of “Everybody Hates Chris” ended up after the show ended in 2009.

Chris Rock served as the popular narrator for Everybody Hates Chris, where he conveyed his childhood experiences on screen from an adult perspective. His voice and perspective are central to why this show resonated so strongly.

One of the most influential comedians of his generation, Rock is known for his work on All Grown Ups, Doctor Dolittle, the Madagascar series, and more recent dramatic works such as Rustin’ and Fargo. He also continues to be a major force in the stand-up comedy world with multiple high-profile Netflix specials.

Beyond acting, Rock continues to write, direct, and produce projects that blend comedy and social commentary.

The 60-year-old actor was married to Malak Compton-Lock for 20 years before divorcing in 2016. They have two daughters, Laura and Zahra.

Tyler James Williams starred as young Chris, anchoring the series with his sharp comedic timing and relatable performance.

After the show ended, he successfully transitioned into adult roles, appearing in projects such as Dear White People, Detroit, and Goosebumps 2. In recent years, he has received wide acclaim for his role as Gregory Eddy in Abbott Elementary, a role that introduced him to a whole new generation of fans and won him a Golden Globe Award.

The 33-year-old has been open about taking time off from acting at times to focus on his health since he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2015. Last year, he spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about his hospitalization and multiple surgeries.

Although Williams tends to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, she revealed to PEOPLE in February 2025 that her dating life has changed since she entered her 30s.

He said he looks for people who most closely match him, not just in appearance, but in “the decisions we’ve made and the lives we’ve built for ourselves.”

“I think everyone should be proud of who they’re with and be proud of who they’re with,” he added.

Terry Crews played Julius Locke, a hard-working and hilariously frugal father whose discipline and dedication became a defining part of the show.

Since “Everyone Hates Chris,” Cruise has built a huge presence on television, most notably for his role as Terry Jeffords on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and as the longtime host of “America’s Got Talent.” He has also appeared in a number of films that blend comedy with a bit of action, including The Expendables and White Chicks.

Around 2010, he also participated in Old Spice’s iconic “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” campaign, beginning a decade-long collaboration with the brand.

Cruise has been married to Rebecca King Cruise since 1989 and they have five children.

Outside of entertainment, the 57-year-old is an author and an outspoken advocate for mental health and personal responsibility.

Tichina Arnold as Rochelle Locke

Tichina Arnold played Rochelle Locke, the poisonous and fiercely protective mother who delivered some of the show’s most memorable lines.

Before and after Everybody Hates Chris, Arnold was already a staple in sitcoms thanks to her role as Pamela in Martin. In 2024, she reprized her role as Rochelle in the animated revival of Everybody Still Hates Chris, returning to the character that made her a fan favorite.

She has appeared on the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood since 2018, and has also directed several episodes.

Arnold was married to boxer Ramon Brewster from 1991 to 1995, and then to basketball coach Rico Hines from 2012 to 2016. She is the mother of one daughter, Aliyah Kai Huggins, and has a daughter with music producer Carvin Huggins.

The 56-year-old is active in raising awareness for lupus, especially after seeing how it affected her sister. She also has a large presence on social media, with over 4 million followers on Instagram.

Tequan Richmond as Drew Lock

Tequan Richmond played Chris’ confident and cool younger brother, Drew Lock.

After the series ended, Richmond shifted to more dramatic subjects, including receiving critical acclaim for her performance in the film The Blue Caprice. He has also guest starred in several television dramas and crime series such as Boomerang.

Like all of her castmates, Richmond keeps much of her personal life private, but she is active on social media.

Imani Hakim brought lively energy to the role of the youngest sister, Tonya Locke, who has often made headlines with her sharp comebacks.

After the show ended, Hakim starred as Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas in “The Gabby Douglas Story” and appeared in films such as “Burning Sands” and “Chocolate City.” She has also worked on television, including an appearance on Mythic Quest.

Hakim shared snippets of his life on social media, revealing that he welcomed a son, Kazuo-Marley Hakim Lee, with producer Chris Naoki Lee in February 2025.

Vincent Martella: Greg Uhriger

Vincent Martella played Greg Uhriger, Chris’ loyal and clumsy best friend and one of the show’s most beloved supporting characters.

Outside of Everyone Hates Chris, Martella is particularly known for voicing Phineas Flynn in Phineas and Ferb, a role that became an important part of his career. He has also appeared in various live-action television series and continues to do voice acting work.

Although the 33-year-old keeps his personal life largely private, he has gained a large following on social media by sharing insights about his work and entertainment business.
