Cardi B reportedly “stepped back” from her relationship with Stefon Diggs because she “couldn’t trust him.”
“Things were getting too heated and complicated,” a source told People magazine about their whirlwind romance.
“Cardi is a very serious person. The moment she felt she couldn’t trust him, she stepped back and focused on her kids, her music, and touring.”
Sources say the “WAP” rapper shares children Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and Blossom, 1, with her estranged husband Offset. And although she has a 3-month-old son with Diggs, “she needs stability and wants the same for her children.”
But we may not have seen the last of Cardi and the New England Patriots star.
“They are co-parents and the door is not completely closed,” the source added. “They may reconnect in the future.”

The 33-year-old “Up” host and the 32-year-old NFL star broke up on Feb. 8 “just days” before he and his teammates were set to face the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 Super Bowl.
“He has betrayed her many times. Her friends are trying to show her that he is not worthy of her and that she deserves better,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that the Grammy winner is currently “single and putting herself out there again.”
Sources also revealed that this isn’t the first time Diggs and Cardi have broken up.
After the match, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Additionally, fans witnessed the wide receiver hanging out with Pree, the woman who allegedly had an affair with Offset, 34, during his marriage to Cardi at the Super Bowl.
Although Diggs has remained silent on the breakup rumors, the “I Like It” rapper confirmed he is single during a Los Angeles stop on his Little Miss Drama Tour.
“Let me tell you something, just because I don’t have sex with my baby daddy doesn’t mean you can talk about my baby daddy, bitch! This is for you, bitch!” she said in response to rapper Bea, who accused Diggs of all six women he has children with.
Cardi and Diggs first sparked dating rumors last February when they were spotted spending Valentine’s Day together in Miami. In June of the same year, they officially opened Instagram.
The couple gave birth to a son in November 2025, but his name has not been made public.
Diggs also has five children with five other women. Four of his six children were born in 2025.
