Days after a photo of Emma Watson and Mexican entrepreneur Gonzalo Hevia Bayere kissing at an airport surfaced, a source spoke to People magazine about their new romance.
Sources say Watson is “really smitten” with Bayerre and feels “on cloud nine”.
They added that Mr. Beier “seems like a good person.”
Bayer is the grandson of the late Mexican billionaire Alberto Bayer, who founded the conglomerate Grupo BAL and ran the silver mining company Industrias Peñoles. Forbes magazine listed the Bayer family as the 10th richest family in Latin America in 2025, with the extended family still working in insurance, mining, and cattle.
Until now, Watson has kept most of his relationships private. She told Vanity Fair in 2017, “I realized that in Hollywood, who you’re dating is tied to the promotion of the movie and becomes part of the performance, part of the circus. I hate it when the person I’m with feels like they’re part of the show or act in some way.”
In a September 2025 episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Watson described the pressure to get married as “very violent” and “very cruel.”
“The truth is, if I had tried to get married about a year ago, it would have been a bloodbath. I just didn’t know myself well enough yet,” she added. “I didn’t have a very clear idea of my purpose or my vision, like how I would help. I didn’t even know where I felt I really needed to be. I think I have some of those answers now.”
At the time, Watson appeared to still be looking for a partner.
“I think it’s a good thing that dating is basically a complete disaster, at least for everyone, and it’s free to do it,” she joked. “In that sense, I feel like I’m in good company.”
