It looks like Wendy Williams and her protégé Sabrina Morrissey will never be friends.
The former talk show is concerned that her guardian, Morrissey, is in retaliation mode after renowned Mount Sinai neurologist Dr. Samuel Gandy reportedly confirmed that Williams suffers from frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, sources said.
(Mount Sinai officials would not confirm whether Mr. Williams was a patient of Mr. Gandy, due to HIPAA rules.)
On Wednesday, Williams had planned a dinner to celebrate his new health report.
However, “she couldn’t get in touch with her bodyguard. She thinks Sabrina fired him,” a source told Page Six.
Ms. Williams is not allowed to leave the luxury residence where she lives on the floor of the memory unit without a bodyguard or unless her newscaster niece, Alex Finney, visits her from Miami, Florida.
“She can’t go anywhere unless Sabrina agrees and[her bodyguard]is there,” the source said.
Even though Williams’ estate is paying for it, sources believe the bodyguard was fired, claiming to Us that “[the conservator]has done this before. She has fired her previous bodyguards. They don’t keep track of her.[Morrissey]doesn’t want her out.”
Wednesday’s shindig was planned two weeks ago in hopes that Williams’ friends would celebrate the “How You Doin” station.
I heard comedian Runel and Williams’ former “Wendy” show producer Suzanne Bass was looking forward to surprising her at Max Tucci’s TUCCI restaurant in New York’s NoHo neighborhood.
In the end, the trio came together without her. But Runell, who was Williams’ mentor when he was pursuing stand-up, managed to get the former talk show host on the phone.
“I was going to kiss you and hold your hand and do all the things you didn’t want me to do,” Runel reportedly said out loud during the phone call.
Sources said Runel told her: “I’m praying for the Queen.”
In response, Williams said that whenever she emerges from conservatorship, she would like to introduce the comic on a date in Las Vegas.
“It was a fun reunion, but it would have been better to meet in person,” a source said.
Friends of Williams believe that her recent outings (including a trip to Connecticut for the wedding of power attorney Joe Tacopina’s son) have “offended Sabrina Bitch,” as everyone affectionately calls her.
(Hmm, where did they get that nickname?)
When contacted by us, Tacopina would not comment on the specific allegations regarding Morrissey and the bodyguard, but believes “Wendy is not protected.”
“She is being punished. What should have been a safety net has become a system of control that limits her voice, her choices and her dignity,” he said. “No guardianship should feel like a punishment.”
I haven’t heard from Morrissey.
