Vietnam-based distributor Skyline Media will bring the psychological thriller “Sister Sister” to Apple TV in 36 international territories starting March 8, in time for International Women’s Day. The move marks the biggest wide release of a Vietnamese title on the platform in about a decade.

This expansion will cover markets in North America, Europe and Oceania. In the Americas, the film will be available in the United States, Canada, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago. European markets include Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Grenada, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In Oceania, the title reaches Australia, Fiji and Micronesia, with Australia being the only territory to date. Available on the platform.

The announcement also marks the start of a broader deal between Skyline Media and Apple TV, with further titles expected to be added from the company’s catalog. This further expands on Skyline’s track record of placing Vietnamese content on major global platforms, having previously secured deals for Vietnamese films on Netflix in Vietnam, across Asia, and in global markets.

Sister, Sister, directed by Vietnamese-American filmmaker Cathy Yuen in her feature debut, also stars supermodel and actress Thanh Hanh (Go Go Sisters), Vietnamese pop icon Thi Phu (Muoi: The Curse) and actor Lan Thanh (Goodbye Mother). The story centers on a celebrity radio host who protects a woman he rescues from a violent attack, only to find himself embroiled in a tense conflict over psychological control and shifting loyalties between the two.

Produced by Muse Films, the title grossed $2.7 million at the Vietnamese box office, making it the second highest-grossing Vietnamese thriller of 2019. It was screened at the 25th Busan International Film Festival and won the ABC Television Award at the 2021 Osaka Asian Film Festival. The sequel, released in 2023, grossed more than $4.6 million domestically and expanded its fortunes into the franchise.

Skyline Media represents over 150 Vietnamese and Southeast Asian titles and distributes content to over 50 countries through over 130 partnerships around the world.
