Victoria Beckham has accepted a prestigious honor from France’s Ministry of Culture and expressed her gratitude to her children, as her rift with her eldest son Brooklyn Beckham intensifies.
After the former Spice Girls singer was knighted on Monday, she stood on the podium as her husband David Beckham and their three youngest children Romeo, 23, Cruise, 20, and Harper, 14, watched from the audience.
“Thank you to my parents and my children for always believing in my vision,” she said in a video obtained by the Daily Mail.
Elsewhere in her speech, Victoria, 51, thanked France’s Ministry of Culture and Culture Minister Rashida Dati for “this honour”.
“I am very grateful,” the fashion designer added.
“I’m very proud to be British, but France is one of the few countries where fashion is treated with the seriousness it deserves as an art form,” she added.
Page Six reached out to Brooklyn’s representatives for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
Victoria’s mention of children comes more than a week after Brooklyn, 26, broke her silence about her estrangement from her famous family.
“I don’t want to reconcile with (his) family,” the former photographer declared in a lengthy post on his Instagram Stories.
Brooklyn also claimed that his parents Victoria and David tried to “ruin” his relationship with his current wife Nicola Peltz.
“Mum canceled the production of Nicola’s dress at the 11th hour, even though she was so looking forward to Nicola wearing her design, leaving Nicola scrambling to find a new dress,” he wrote.
The aspiring chef also claimed his mother “hijacked” his first dance with the Bates Motel actress, 31, during their wedding.
“She danced on me in a very inappropriate way in front of everyone. I have never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated in my life,” Brooklyn claimed.
The pop star and former soccer pro, 50, has not directly spoken out about his son’s claims, but several people who attended Peltz’s wedding in Brooklyn in April 2022 have spoken out.
DJ Fat Tony, who performed at the couple’s wedding in Florida, deejayed the reception party the night before and brunch the next day.
Appearing on British show This Morning last week, Tony, 60, described the brunch as the “most awkward part” of the three-day affair. Because “everything that happened on the actual wedding night was discussed with all the guests the next morning.”
Despite the drama, David and Victoria have continued to put on a united front with their other three children.
