On May 6, Variety will announce the third installment of its Asia-Pacific Next Entertainment list of eight films.
Once again, Variety is collaborating with the team at Gold House to select eight Asia-Pacific regions that have an impact on entertainment as a whole.
The list includes changemakers. Variety, in collaboration with Gold House, will honor leaders in television, film, music and stage, including actors, craftsmen and industry executives, highlighting the rise of Asia-Pacific talent in the global entertainment industry. All members of the group are progressing in their respective areas of the entertainment industry.
Gold House is a leading cultural ecosystem that connects Asia-Pacific and multicultural communities around a common purpose, invests capital and resources in independent creators and businesses, and shows the world how impactful Asia-Pacific communities can be in any industry or endeavor.
“Championing bold storytellers and boundary-pushers is something Variety has long done,” said Jazz Tancay, senior craft editor at Variety. “Once again, we’re honored to join together with the team at Gold House to find the industry’s next group of visionaries who embody the richness of our Asia-Pacific community.”
She continued, “With the House of Gold, we’re looking for people who are opening doors and making waves.”
“We’re excited to bring back 8 API Up Next for a third year as we continue to see more textured and culturally fluent Asia-Pacific storytelling across film and television,” said Tiffany Chao, vice president of entertainment and media at nonprofit cultural ecosystem Gold House.
Previous winners include Chase Sui Wonders of “The Studio,” “Severance” star Dichen Lachman, “Moana 2” co-director Dana LeDoux Miller, “The Last of Us” and “Beef” star Young Maginot, and “Diddy” director Sean Wan.
