“Tulsa King” was updated in Season 4 with Paramount+. Additionally, Variety has learned that Terence Winter will be backstage in the series.
News of the update will be right in front of the Season 3 premiere of Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama, set on September 21st. It was reported in November 2024 that the series’ lead Sylvester Stallone was approaching a new contract to keep him on the show until at least season 4.
Winter was the original showrunner and executive producer for season 1 of “Tulsa King,” but left ahead of the second season. Winter then served as a consultant for Season 3, but also worked on a series about FX’s gang Sammy “Bull” Gravano. In season 4 of “The Tulsa King,” he is known as the show’s headwriter in addition to executive production. Season 3 showrunner Dave Erickson will not return, but instead will focus on running Sheridan’s show, “Mayor of Kingstown.”
The official explanation for “The Tulsa King” Season 3 states, “As Dwight’s (Stallone) Empire expands, risks to the enemies and crew grow. Now he is still facing his most dangerous enemy in Tulsa.
The cast for Season 3 includes Martin Starr, Jaywill, Anna Belaciora, Neil McDonough, Robert Patrick, Bonus, Vera Heathcote, Christald Vino, McKenna Quigley Harlington, Mike “Cash Flow” Walden, Kevin Malak, Gurira, Michael Piazza, Michael Beach and Mike Dana Delaney.
Samuel L. Jackson becomes a guest star in multiple episodes before leading the spinoff series Nola King. The show, which was green light in July, is scheduled to begin filming in early 2026. Jackson plays Dwight’s friend from prison to be sent to Tulsa and killed him.
“Nola King” has its own showrunner drama. Erickson was originally scheduled to run “Nora King,” but as only diversity was reported, he resigned from that role in the spinoff. No new showrunners were appointed at the time of this publication.
“Tulsa King” is an executive produced by Sheridan, Stallone, Erixon, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hatkin, Bob Yari, Jim McKay, Sheri Elwood, Ildi Modrovich and Keith Cox. The show is distributed by the distribution of Paramount global content. Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
