Traviskells had a fierce exchange with coach Andy Reed during Sunday’s New York Giants game at Kansas City Chiefs vs. MetLife Stadium.
In the second quarter, the tight end caught a pass that set a 40-yard field goal attempt missed by kicker Harrison Backer.
As Kelse walked over to the sidelines he met an angry lead. He screamed furiously at the athlete and slammed him with his shoulder.
The “Grotes Kelly” actor recovered before the 67-year-old Reid finally left.
It is unknown what the 35-year-old Kelce and the four-time Super Bowl champion were discussing. However, the chiefs still continued to defeat the titans from 22 to 9.
After the game, Reed downplayed the heated exchange to the reporter.
“I love Travis’ passion, man,” he said. “I’m fine with that. It wasn’t enough for the second quarter. It wasn’t where we needed it, so he knows when to retract the pedal and when to push it.
“That’s the part I like about him. The guy is all in. Sometimes I have to be a cop. He’s an emotional guy.”
Reed then urged everyone to “not make too much.”
“He’s a passionate guy and I love that part,” the coach said of his star player. “I’ve been through a lot with him, and it’s all part of it. I love how he loves to play the game. That’s what I love. It’s an emotional game.
This is not the first time Kelce and Reid have started a fierce argument on the field.
In the 2024 Super Bowl, the three-time Super Bowl champions intentionally hit the head coach, screaming at him after the Chiefs ran through the ball against the San Francisco 49ers.
Following the Super Bowl victory, Kelse ditched the story of a clash with Reid.
“I’m going to keep it between us,” he told ESPN. “I was telling him how much I love him.”
A source told Page 6 that Kelce is “just a passionate player and everyone has the edge.”
“It’s the Super Bowl! But there was no fraudulent intention,” the insider added. “He respects Coach Reid. It’s really about the passion of the game. It wasn’t serious.”
Recently, Kelse exploded with his Chief teammate before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.
