Tracy Spiridakos and Jesse Lee Soffer return for ‘Chicago PD’ crossover

Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos will return to “Chicago PD” in a three-part crossover with “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med,” set to air March 4 on NBC.

According to the official description, Spiridakos’ character, Hailey Upton, “returns to her previous role, but this time at the federal level as an FBI special agent. She joins her former PD colleagues after returning to Chicago following a Drug Enforcement Task Force case from the Detroit field office.” Jay Halstead (who plays Soffer) “goes deep undercover, leading him down a path to the same cases that Upton is investigating.”

Couch last appeared in an October 2022 episode that ended three episodes into season 10, as his character decided to join Army Group to bring down a Bolivian cartel. Spiridakos last appeared in May 2024 and left the show at the end of season 11. Haley had been married to Halstead before the move, but decided to start over and chose to leave Chicago.

Upon their respective departures, they both expressed a desire to return, which is common in the world of One Chicago. Although Soffer has returned to directing, this will be the first time either of them will return to the screen in roles.

“I’d like to think, and I want my fans to think that, that he’s in another country right now just doing his best and making the world a safer place. Sometimes in a family, someone moves or goes to college somewhere else,” Soffer previously told Variety about leaving the door open for a return. “I still love it. I still love the fans. And I still love Halstead. Halstead will always be in my blood. That will never change.”

According to the crossover event’s logline, “Fire Department 51 is dispatched to the airfield after a passenger plane suddenly goes silent in the air, creating a high-stakes emergency. Their discovery uncovers a larger, more horrifying mystery. The consequences could ripple far beyond the runway and endanger countless lives.”

The night will swap the usual programming order, starting with “Chicago Fire” at 8 p.m., followed by “Chicago Med” at 9 p.m. and “Chicago PD” at 10 p.m.

Universal Television is producing One Chicago in association with Wolf Entertainment. Chicago PD is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski, Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Gavin Harris, and Jason Beghe.
