Tracy Letts and Carrie Coon’s partnership is strong on stage and off.
Speaking with PEOPLE on Thursday, January 8, at the Broadway premiere of his new play Bug Lets, the 60-year-old revealed his secret to working with his wife when she stars in his work. “We like each other.”
Kuhn, 44, who married Letts in 2013, stars as Agnes, a waitress with a fragile sense of reality, in “Bug” at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater in New York City. The White Lotus actress and the Tony Award-winning actor and playwright first met in 2010 while starring in Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Company’s revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? , which marked their Broadway acting debut.
“We like each other and we like being together,” Letts says. “We met to work together and are fans of each other’s work. So it’s not difficult.”

“Everyone’s fine,” the Lady Bird star admitted when asked about the sudden cancellation of Bug’s two Jan. 7 performances due to an internal illness.
Letts added, “Live theater, baby. There’s nothing like it.”
The first look for David Cromer’s Bugs, shared exclusively with PEOPLE, shows Kuhn on stage with co-stars Namil Smallwood, Randall Arney, Jennifer Engstrom and Steve Key. Letts’ play was first performed in London in 1996 and has been produced several times since then, including a 2006 film starring Michael Shannon, Ashley Judd, and Harry Connick Jr.
“I love this production of ‘Bug,'” the Pulitzer Prize winner said of the Broadway production in an August 2025 statement. “It’s scary, funny, and intimate, and under the direction of my longtime collaborator David Cromer, it features five great stage actors at their best. But what I love most about this production is how immersive the story is. When the audience is drawn into the story, when they lose themselves in it, that’s the kind of magic that can only happen in live theater.”
Letts and Kuhn have a son born in 2018 and a daughter born in 2021. In addition to collaborating on stage in Chicago and New York City, the couple also co-starred in the 2017 film The Post and season two of the American anthology series The Sinner.
