Robert Irwin and Xochitl Gomez shared a special moment just hours before their win on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Ahead of Tuesday night’s Season 34 finale, the actress was seen visiting Irwin on set and giving him a bouquet of flowers.
Gomez, looking chic in a long black strapless dress with gold buttons and a detachable collar, looked dazzling as she chatted with zookeepers outside her trailer.
Irwin chatted with Gomez as he put on his first dance outfit of the night, a sparkly black button-up shirt and bejeweled pants.
The encounter appeared to be filled with smiles and laughter between the two, which naturally fueled fan speculation that the two were in a romantic relationship.
A source told Page Six that Irwin, 21, and Gomez, 19, have been enjoying each other’s company since they met on a dance competition show.
However, it is unclear if they are anything more than just close friends.
A source said, “Xochitl is the kindest person,” adding, “They are having so much fun. They are both outgoing and full of energy.”
According to People, Gomez admitted she was “single” on the show’s TikTok livestream just before the final episode, even though fans of the show were “streaming” the show online.
The livestream was co-hosted by “DWTS” pros Jan Ravnik and Brandon Armstrong, who directly asked Gomez if she was single.
“Yes, I do,” the actress admitted with a laugh. “Yes, yes, that’s right.”
Representatives for Mr. Irwin and Mr. Gomez did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Meanwhile, another source expressed how happy “everyone” was after Irwin and his dance partner Witney Carson’s exciting win.
“Everyone around Robert is thrilled that he won the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy,” a source said. “On set, you could tell he was well-liked among the cast and crew.”
Robert was in Los Angeles for the finale Tuesday night, then flew overnight to New York for an appearance on “Good Morning America” early Wednesday morning.
He is heading to Africa and is expected to return to his native Australia by Thursday.
Gomez gushed over Irwin and Carson’s win in a video of the moment she shared on her Instagram Story.
“So proud of you both! What an amazing season! ❤️✨,” the Marvel star captioned the post.
After Gomez, who won Season 32 of the dance competition series, returned to the ballroom in the series’ 20th anniversary episode, fans began speculating about a possible romance between the two.
She and Irwin lit up the dance floor with their exciting routines back then.
The pair performed an energetic jive to Olly Murs’ ‘Dance With Me Tonight’, defeating Alix Earle and former DWTS champion Joey Graziadei in the dance relay.
Last month, Irwin spoke exclusively to Page Six about his dating life and the flood of messages he received from fans and potential suitors on his quest to find “the American girl.”
“Oh my god, DMs,” Irwin said with a laugh. “First of all, it really means a lot. But yeah, I’m keeping an eye on it, and when it happens, it happens…Keep it up!”
He’s not the only one receiving special attention from viewers. His professional dance partner and sister, former DWTS champion Bindi Irwin, has also been inundated with messages from female students asking her to hook up with Robert since the show aired.
“We’re so busy right now, girls, okay?” Carson joked. “We’re trying to win the mirror ball. So calm down! Maybe stop texting me 100 times a day.”
Robert won the coveted trophy 10 years after 27-year-old Bindi won the Season 21 championship with dance partner Derek Hough. She was at the ballroom Tuesday night to celebrate her brother’s big win.
