In an interview with the new Esquire, Tom Holland hilariously revealed that “it’s definitely going to be musty in his Spider-Man suit, so I think “I’ll probably get a new suit every two weeks.” The 29-year-old actor is currently in production for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” His fourth independent film is the iconic web slinger and his seventh Marvel film.
“I understand very well who Peter Parker is and I’ve been very fortunate that the fanbase is so vocal about what I love from the franchise,” Holland told the publication. “We were able to really lean on those things and take advantage of them. So I love standing up for the characters and being in the room and making sure the decisions we make are the best for Peter Parker. He really feels like one of my best friends.
The Netherlands said earlier this month that Spider-Man fans are very active on the internet when it comes to researching what they want to see from him on the big screen. The Netherlands holds fan wishes to the producers of his “Spider-Man” films during the pitch meeting, ensuring that his comic book films will appeal directly to the fans.
“For me, I want to do justice to Peter Parker’s character. I want to bring the fans something worthy of their time. I’m very grateful for the investment in the franchise,” Holland told Esquare. “I don’t make any sense financially. I mean, it’s time to go to the cinema three times. That’s a big question.”
“I really put together the vibes of what people were looking for, went to Marvel and said, ‘This is what we think we should do,'” he continued. “And I think that’s exactly what we’re doing. So developing a film was a really fun process. It was the first time I’ve been allowed to do that part of the process and it’s definitely a stressful experience.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is directed by Helmer Destin Daniel Cretton, “The Legend of Shang-chi and The Ten Rings.” The Netherlands has Marvel Vet John Bernsal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk (though the actor said he’s been waiting for the script recently). New cast members include Sadicink, Liza Colonzayas and Trameltilman.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is scheduled to open in theaters on July 31st by Sony.
