Is he looking for a new love?
Tom Cruise was spotted having a laugh with Sydney Sweeney just weeks after splitting from Ana de Armas.
The Top Gun: Maverick star, 63, and Sweeney, 28, had a playful exchange while attending the 2025 Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to an Instagram video posted by Variety.
In the clip, Sweeney and Cruise are seen standing with a group of friends as a band plays jazzy music in the background.
At one point, Sweeney told Cruise, “I’ve never driven a boat,” before adding, “I don’t want to.”
They might have been talking about how Cruise filmed his own stunts, like when he dangled from a plane or jumped off a building. Meanwhile, Sweeney gained 35 pounds while training for the role of boxer Christy Martin in the new movie Christie.
The “Euphoria” actress appeared to smile as the conversation progressed, clearly enjoying each other’s company.
Sweeney looked elegant in a silver sequin off-the-shoulder dress by Miu Miu with a sweetheart neckline and long drapes down the back. Her Dena Kemp earrings also sparkled.
Cruise looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo with a bow tie.
Elsewhere in the evening, the “Mission: Impossible” actor accepted an honorary Academy Award and gave a moving speech in front of a crowd of Hollywood stars.
“Movies take me all over the world,” Cruise said. “It helps us recognize and respect our differences. It also teaches us our common humanity, how similar we are in so many ways.”
“And no matter where we come from, in that theater we laugh together, we feel together, we hope together. That’s the power of this art form,” he continued. “That’s why it’s important, that’s why it’s important to me. That’s why it’s not my job to make movies, it’s who I am.”
Cruise recently broke up with the “Knives Out” actress. Last month, sources claimed Cruz and de Armas, 37, called off their relationship because they no longer felt a “spark.”
“While the sparks have gone between them, they still love each other’s company and are both very mature about it,” a source told The Sun at the time.
But apparently they ended on good terms and remain friends.
“Tom and Anna had a lot of fun together, but their time as a couple has come to an end,” a source said. “They remain good friends but are no longer dating.”
He and the No Time to Die star were first linked romantically in February when they were spotted on a Valentine’s Day date in London. The two continued to fuel dating rumors after being spotted on several romantic getaways, but never spoke about their love publicly.
Sweeney has been dating Scooter Braun since ending her seven-year relationship with fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier this year.
