Tom Brady talked about how difficult the last year of his NFL career was due to his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
In an interview published with ML Football on Thursday, Brady, 48, detailed the impact of his separation from Bundchen, 45, who finalized their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
“Last season was tough,” he admitted. “I had a lot of personal family issues, and it was a challenge and it was very hard… It really drained me in terms of my playing ability.”
Brady, who first retired from football in February 2022 and briefly played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before permanently leaving the NFL in 2023, said he always kept his family in mind when choosing to leave.
“I’ve been playing soccer for 23 years, so I didn’t feel like I was missing anything when I retired,” he explained. “I always felt like I had a goal of being 45. I was 45 and I wanted to spend time with my kids, and I felt like, OK, now it’s time to go to all of my kids’ games. They’ve been to their dad’s games enough.”
“I tried to do everything I could to do the best I could,” he said of last season. “I felt like I owed it to my teammates and coaches to give everything I had. I wish I could have been a little better at the end. But it was just a unique situation and a unique year for me.”
She has two children with the retired Victoria’s Secret Angel, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13. Brady also has an 18-year-old son, Jack, with ex-partner Bridget Moynahan.
Bunkden married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquin Valente in December after giving birth to her first child in early 2025.
Brady has recently been linked to Alix Earle, and the two were seen getting cozy on New Year’s Eve.
Page Six exclusively revealed that Earl, 25, and Brady, 48, spent some time together at a NYE yacht party, and a source said the two eventually left the “large group” and went to a private cabin to talk.
Before that, Brady was romantically involved with model Irina Shayk after his divorce.
