Tokyo Gap Financing Market will introduce its first awards program at its 6th industry platform, to be held from October 29 to 31 as part of TIFFCOM 2025.
The newly created TIFFCOM TGFM 2025 Awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Lexus Meets venue in Midtown Hibiya on October 31st. Awards include the Tokyo Projects Award with a cash prize of 2 million yen ($13,225) and the Asian Gen-Z Award with a cash prize of 500,000 yen ($3,305). The awards are decided by a selection committee of five film students between the ages of 20 and 28.
Two in-kind awards will also be awarded. One is the Kongchak Award, a sound post-production service worth $25,000, provided by Cambodia-based Kongchak Studio, and the White Light Award, provided by Thailand’s White Light, which also provides $25,000 worth of post-production services.
TGFM serves as a funding platform for feature film projects and provides one-on-one meetings between filmmakers and industry experts. This year, 23 projects (17 live-action and 6 animation) were selected from Japan, Asia, and other countries.
The market is also launching TGFM Morning Sessions, a series of lectures aimed at producers pursuing international co-productions. Sessions will be held on two consecutive mornings on October 30th and 31st and will focus on project markets, funding and grants.
The Project Market Talk on October 30th will feature Tania Morissette, Deputy Director of the Frontière International Co-Production Market. Mr. Jacob Wong, HKIFF Industry Director. and Mr. Pascal Diotto, head of Venice Production Bridge.
The next day’s Fund Talk will be joined by Remi Buller, CEO of Arte France Cinéma and President of ArteKino. Alexandra Zakharchenko, Head of the Marché du Film Industry Program at the Cannes Film Festival. Mr. Muntir Altuwayrib, Legal and Financial Supervisor of the Red Sea Fund.
Sessions will be conducted in English without Japanese translation, and attendance will be limited to TGFM participants, invited guests, and accredited members of the media.
TIFFCOM 2025 will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho Hall from October 29th to 31st, and is a related content market for the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival, which will be held from October 27th to November 5th.
