Todd Chrisley says his family has always been “socially liberal but financially conservative.” The reality star says he is grateful to President Donald Trump for forgiven him and his wife, Julie.

Todd Chrisley says fans who lost to partnering with President Donald Trump had no idea of him.

Todd and his wife, Julie, were recently released from prison along with their daughter Savannah, sat for a nightline interview about getting the chance to tell the story side of the story in their new lifetime series, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.

When asked by Juju Chang of ABC News, how Todd would feel when fans of his reality show say they can’t support him because of his relationship with Trump, former Chrisley knows the best star scrambled.

“I don’t think the viewers really know us,” he said of the scenario. “Our family has always been very socially liberal and financially conservative.”

“I don’t agree with anything you do, whether it’s the president or the lawmaker, or the senator, the reality star,” Todd added.

However, the controversial reality star has admitted that he feels grateful for Trump.

“I can sit here. I’m forgiven, so President Donald J. Trump gave me my family, so I say I love President Donald J. Trump,” Todd (57) said.

Julie, 52, agreed, adding, “If President Trump offers them pardon, he’ll say no.”

Her parents are grateful for giving Trump a second chance of freedom, but it was Savannah who became perhaps the most political member of the family during the pardon process.

Todd and Julie began to engage in national politics with their daughter when they committed bank fraud in June 2022 and were convicted of tax evasion, wire fraud and conspiracy in January 2023.

She named her “Magabarbie,” and campaigned on behalf of her parents, beginning to hone her shoulders with conservative advocates and politicians.

She explained in the August 5 episode that she was unlocked on the Savannah Chrisley podcast. In particular, he explained the exciting taste of how it might feel to be a politician when he held a press conference in a prison parking lot prior to his father’s release.

“When I was standing outside the prison when I had that press conference and saw all the people who had approached me and hugged me and spoke to me, it really took a step back and said, “My future might look different from what I originally thought.

Savannah Chrisley will speak to the media ahead of her father Todd’s prison release on May 27, 2025 in Pensacola, Florida.

But speaking to people a few months after their parents’ release, Savannah, who has just turned 28, revealed that she is not planning to run for office any time in the midterm in 2026.

“I had a meeting at the White House about the possibility of taking over the Tennessee House seat, but I knew that this wasn’t the time,” Savannah said in August.

“I regained my life and didn’t feel in my heart and soul that I could create the impact I really wanted to make,” she continued. “I reconstruct and think about who I am and what I want from life.”

That doesn’t mean that the young reality star, who spoke on behalf of his parents at the 2024 Republican National Convention, is giving up on public service.

“I feel like I can implement just as much change outside with a much bigger platform and voice than you can do inside,” she told people. “So who knows?”

Furthermore, she noted that there will be more opportunities and open seats in the future.

“Marsha Blackburn will run for governor (Tennessee) and she will win,” predicted Savannah. “So who knows what’s going to happen in that Senate seat? I just happen for a reason, like this whole pardon process. Every relationship you do, every waving.”
