Timothée Chalamet appeared on Instagram Live on Tuesday to share a mysterious, high-concept promo for his new table tennis blockbuster, Marty Supreme.
The livestream began with Chalamet sitting in what looked like a giant lottery ball machine, with ping pong balls flying around him. Rocking a black-and-blue Marty Supreme-branded tracksuit and a ping-pong ball Halloween mask, a group of similarly masked faceless people grouped around him at a ping-pong table. Immediately, Chalamet rips off his mask and jumps out of the box, followed closely by the masked men.
Chalamet stomps across an open field to the sounds of a skull-shaking EDM track that samples Jason Mewes’ monologue from the 2001 film “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.” Eventually he escapes into a shipping container decorated to look like an interview set. Jolly muzak played as Chalamet tied his shoelaces and slid off the armchair, an A24 poster propped up on an easel behind him.
“‘Marty Supreme’ is an American movie that will be released on Christmas Day 2025,” Chalamet said after nearly two minutes of silence, as the movie’s poster appeared on his Instagram Live camera, out of focus.
Chalamet teased the live broadcast with a clip of an intense music festival mosh pit, with a handwritten caption that read, “The season of supremacy is here.”
A24 is known for its leftfield marketing strategies, and Chalamet has been more active than usual in the game, credited as a producer on the project.
In addition to Chalamet, the Josh Safdie-directed film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa Azion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
