The Academy Awards continue to follow Timothée Chalamet’s work.
The “Wonka” star, 30, received his third Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in “Marty Supreme.”
He was nominated for the first time in 2018 for “Call Me By Your Name,” and again in 2025 for his performance as Bob Dylan in “Completely Unknown.”
Now, he has earned his third nomination after his role as a professional table tennis player opposite Gwyneth Paltrow.
At last year’s Oscars, Chalamet lost the Best Actor award to Adrien Brody for “The Brutalist.”
“If you had five people at an awards show and four of them came home losing, you wouldn’t expect them to be sitting in a restaurant thinking, ‘Damn, we didn’t win?'” he recalled to Vogue in November 2025. “I’ve been around some very generous, egoless actors, some of whom might say, ‘It was fun,'” he said. But the truth is, a lot of them are like, “Damn! ‘ I know you’re saying, ”
“People might say I’m a hard worker or they might say all the wrong things,” Chalamet said. “But I’m actually the one doing it here.”
Chalamet also talked about losing at the ceremony while chatting with SiriusXM. He said it was “uniquely hilarious” to return home without a win and tear up a prepared speech.
“You’d think, ‘You narcissistic, arrogant bastard. What planet was he going to use this on?'”
Meanwhile, the Rainy Day in New York star has already landed a role this awards season, winning the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor earlier this month.
He was previously nominated in the critics category for “Call Me By Your Name” and “Completely Unknown.” In 2019, he won the Best Supporting Actor Award for “Beautiful Boy.”
“Marty Supreme” also won Chalamet the Best Actor award at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. He had been nominated four times previously, dating back to 2018.
“This is a movie about pursuing dreams,” Chalamet told IndieWire last year about his latest project. “I’m going to leave it on the field. Whether it’s merchandise, whether it’s Zoom, whether it’s media appearances, I’m trying to communicate this in the biggest way possible. In the spirit of Marty Moser.”
In a recent TikTok video that went viral, Chalamet opened up about his work ethic at Marty Supreme.
“This is probably my best performance. It’s been the last seven or eight years that I feel like I’ve given a really, really dedicated, top-notch performance,” he said. “It’s important to say it out loud because I don’t want people to take for granted the discipline and work ethic that I put into these things.”
Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners,” Leonardo DiCaprio for “One Battle After Another,” Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent,” and Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon” are also nominated for the 2026 Oscar for Best Actor.
Chalamet currently holds the title of the youngest male actor to receive three Best Actor Oscar nominations since Marlon Brando.
The icon, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 80, was nominated for Best Actor for 1952’s A Streetcar Named Desire and 1953’s Viva Zapata! and 1954’s “Julius Caesar.”
Brando was only 29 years old when he was nominated for an Oscar in February 1954. He turned 30 that April.
Chalamet celebrated his 30th birthday in December.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you for the birthday wishes! 🥳Timmy Tim is officially UNC🫡 #uncletimmytim,” he captioned a celebratory post on Instagram.
Jennifer Lawrence made history by becoming the youngest actor, male or female, to receive four Oscar nominations for her role in 2016’s Joy.
The 35-year-old “Hunger Games” star was first nominated for “Winter’s Bone” in 2011 at the age of 20 and won in 2013 for “Unique Playbook.”
Lawrence was only 23 when she received her third Best Supporting Actress nomination for American Hustle.
