Adam Sandler will star in Time Out, Netflix’s remake of the French psychological drama L’Emploi Du Temps. Christian Bale was reportedly attached to the project, which will be directed by Scott Cooper.
Sandler has long made Netflix his creative home, releasing not only a wide range of comedies such as “Murder Mystery” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” but also more artistic filmography, including “The Meyrowitz Stories” and “Jay Kelly,” which he released for the streamer last year.
He will lead an impressive ensemble that includes Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, as well as Gaby Hoffman, Steve Zahn, and Adam Horowitz.
The original film was directed by Laurent Cantet and Robin Campillo. This is the story of a man who is fired from his job but cannot accept it from his wife and family. To hide his situation, he continued to lie, even creating an investment plan and asking friends to donate.
Cooper recently directed “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” a film about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s “Nebraska,” which received respectful reviews but was a box office flop. His other works include the Oscar-winning “Crazy Heart,” directed by Jeff Bridges, and the gothic mystery “The Pale Blue Eye,” released by Netflix. In addition to directing the film, Cooper will also produce and write Time Out.
Mr. Sandler is repped by WME. Dafoe is repped by WME and Circle Management + Production. Zahn is repped by UTA, Principal Entertainment LA and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern. Hoffman is repped by Gersh and OPE Partners. Abraham is represented by innovative artists. Horowitz is repped by WME and Silva Artist Management.
