Beta Cinema has added thriller “The Method” from the producers of Oscar winner “The Lives of Others,” Oscar nominee “Never Look Away” and Netflix series “Dark” to its European film market lineup. Leonine is scheduled for wide theatrical release in Germany later this year.
The cast includes Hannah Herzsprung (Four Minutes, Babylon Berlin), Damien Khaldun (Maxton Hall), Alexander Fehling (The Labyrinth of Lies), Hayley-Louise Jones (Sad Joke, Dear Child), and Christian Friedel (The Zone of Interest, White Lotus).
The film is based on the novel by Juri Zeh and will be written and directed by Lena Stahl (My Son).
The film will be produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann and Laura Mihailovic of Wiedemann & Berg Film.
The film is set in a society shaped by “methods” where comprehensive health and absolute transparency are the guiding principles. Scientist Mia Hall’s life changes when her brother Moritz is accused of murder.
Although the evidence against him is overwhelming, Mia is convinced of his innocence. This contradiction compels her to take action against an unquestionable system. But who can she trust? My colleague Christiane, my brother’s lawyer, or the charismatic journalist Kramer? As Mia fights for truth and justice, she too finds herself pursued.
The production team includes Academy Award winner Volker Bertelmann (The Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front) and Lennart Saasoff, who composed the original music. Philip Haberlandt (“Black Mirror”) serves as director of photography. Academy Award winner Christian Goldbeck (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) is on board as production designer.
The film is in post-production.
