“The View” host reacted Friday morning to the recent firing of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was fired by President Donald Trump after some controversy.
“I think there are 100 reasons why this woman should be terminated. Her department, under her leadership, is killing, injuring, and detaining American citizens,” Ana Navarro said of Noem. “She has detained about 4,000 children in detention centers. There is a lack of morale.”
Sunny Hostin chimed in, saying, “It’s never nice when someone loses a job or loses a career. But how could something like this happen to someone this good? I mean, she needed to go. She needed to go.”
In addition to mentioning ICE’s recent actions under Noem’s leadership, the talk show hosts also pointed to the $220 million ad campaign she shot in front of Mount Rushmore. “Some of these shootings occurred during the government shutdown,” Navarro said. “So while the TSA agents working under her department weren’t getting paid, she was taking these glamorous shots at Mount Rushmore.”
But Hostin expressed concern that Noem’s policy “could still be here.” “We now know that ICE has killed American citizens. As you pointed out, we know that they are detaining people who are being properly processed for immigration. We also know that they are taking people off the streets and erasing them from their families and separating them from their families. , we also know that there is a masked man who is just baiting the children to get the father and mother out of the house. We know that their training has been cut in half.” ”
Organizers also raised questions about Noem’s successor. On Thursday, President Trump announced that Noem would be replaced by Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin, a former professional mixed martial arts fighter who has advocated for a certain stance on immigration.
“Last year, he said that infants born to immigrants living in the United States illegally should be deported with their parents if the adults are removed,” Joy Behar said. “This goes to the very heart of our constitutional birthright citizenship, and this is unconstitutional.”
After more discussion, the discussion eventually returned to Noem, with Navarro quipping, “Goodbye, Felicia, don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord would tear you apart.”
