Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer are reportedly committed to making their marriage work, despite recent rumors swirling that they may be divorcing.
“They are privately working through the usual issues that long-married couples have,” a source told People on Thursday.
“They’re both serious about this relationship.”
Schumer, 44, and Fisher, 45, married in 2018 and have a 6-year-old son named Gene.
Sources addressed Schumer and Fisher’s status after a close friend of the comedian claimed that Schumer and her husband were headed for a breakup.
“Amy is 100 per cent divorcing. She’s lost weight, but she’s at the end of it,” a friend told the Daily Mail, referring to the “Trainwreck” star’s recent weight loss.
Sources claim that the chef is “hardly home,” and that the couple is putting their homes in Brooklyn and New Orleans on the market.
“She deleted Chris from Instagram and then everything else,” the friend noted, adding, “She plans to turn in soon, but it’s over. It’s over.”
Another source told the outlet that Schumer and Fisher have been estranged for some time.
“Amy doesn’t talk about Chris much anymore. It’s like they aren’t close anymore,” a second source claimed. “He’s never around and she hasn’t taken him to the red carpet in months.”
The source also claimed that because Fisher has been diagnosed with autism, he “can’t even understand her jokes.”
“It’s important to her to be funny and make people laugh,” a second source said. “There’s also the classic cliché that when a woman loses weight, her personality changes.”
A second source claimed that Schumer has “changed” for the better since making the change.
“She’s a lot lighter mentally, a lot more easy-going. I think she wants more out of life,” a second source said.
A third source told the outlet that Fisher and Schumer have been dating “on a daily basis” for years.
“They’re more focused on their child than their relationship, and his brutal honesty about being autistic is both a blessing and a curse for Amy, and she jokes about it in some of her specials, but it’s also a minor problem for their relationship,” a third source said.
In February, Schumer revealed that she and Fisher had to schedule sex and confirmed they were planning to date.
“We do birthdays…we schedule it, we schedule it,” she confessed during an appearance on “The View” at the time.
The “Slightly Pregnant” actress began showing off her dramatically slimmer figure last month after embarking on a GLP1-assisted weight loss journey.
This week she overhauled her Instagram account, deleting all old photos, including snaps of her voluptuous figure.
Schumer denied intentionally deleting her pre-weight loss photos, writing on social media that she was “proud of the way she always looks.”
“I have been trying to get rid of the pain and it is finally gone. My endometriosis is better. My lower back is healing. My face is back to normal now that Cushing’s syndrome is gone,” she wrote.
“I’m grateful to be strong and healthy, especially for my son,” she added. “But your Instagram is not your identity, it’s a curated version of what you want the world to see. I feel so strong and beautiful, and it was fun to share that.”
Schumer explained that she didn’t intentionally lose weight, but was focused on improving her health.
“I think my weight will always fluctuate,” she said in part. “I wish you strength and self-love in whatever path you take, as long as you are kind and respectful to all people. No matter your weight, race or religion, peace!”
A representative for Mr. Schumer did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
