Ulrich Köhler’s “Gavagai” debuted the trailer on variety shows ahead of the Sunday film screening at the Zurich Film Festival.

The film is suspools during a turbulent filming of the “Medea” adaptation in Senegal. On set, Maja seeks comfort in her love life with her co-star Nuurou. A few months later, they meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Old feelings resurface, but racist incidents make reunion uncertain. When everyone tries to do the right thing, tensions rise. Modern drama unfolds while ancient tragedy unfolds on screen.
Dennis Lim, artistic director of the New York Film Festival, commented: “Köhler specializes in unning, surprising and surprising films about intercultural cutting. “Gabagh” is his most ambitious and vast film.
