Zubeen Garg, known for his hit Bollywood song “Ya Ali,” passed away following a medical emergency while on a scuba diving outing. He was 52 years old.
The Indian musician suffered a medical emergency while swimming in Singapore on Friday, September 19th, independent people reported, citing local media. He was pulled out of the water by local police and taken to hospital, where he died on the same day.
His death was confirmed by the Northeast India Festival. The statement said the singer passed away at Singapore General Hospital around 2:30pm local time.
According to the Indian era, Garg’s cause of death was own.
“The High Commissioner of Singapore sent Zubreen Gaag’s death certificate. They said the cause of the death was in their own. However, this is not a post-mortem report,” Prime Minister Assam Biswa Salma said at a press conference, according to the outlet on Sunday, September 21.

Garg was given CPR during the Indian era after experiencing difficulty breathing while going out on scuba diving.
The organizers of the Northeast India festival gave more insight into the musician’s final moments, saying, “Today, our entire team was engaged in business meetings with senior industrialists and policymakers in Singapore to promote investment in Northeast India.”
During the meeting, the festival team recognized the tragic news through a call from Garg’s manager. “I later learned that several members of the local Assam community had taken him on a yacht visit, but I had no prior knowledge,” the statement continued.
“Once we received the news, our team quickly rushed to the hospital and worked closely with the High Commissioner to complete the necessary steps. This is a monumental loss, and words cannot express the depths of grief,” the organizers wrote.
The festival, scheduled for September 19-21, has been cancelled in light of the incident. “We are devastated and praying for Zveingag’s deceased soul,” the organizers added.
Indian politician Rahul Gandhi said, “The passage of Zubeen Garg is a horrifying tragedy. His voice defined a generation, and his talent was truly an unparalleled tragedy, and he wrote in Zubeen Garg’s Dead X to pay tribute to the late singer.
“He overcame a personal tragedy to reconstruct Assam’s musical landscape. His perseverance and courage left a lasting mark. He will live forever in our hearts and hearts,” continued Gandhi.
Garg’s career spanned 30 years. The musician had a breakthrough in Bollywood with a recording of the song “Ya Ali,” which appears in the 2006 film “Gangster: Love Story.” He was also a music producer, film director and music performer.
Prime Minister Assam also issued a state of mourning until September 23, when the Gargs are set to be placed for rest.

“When we discussed with the family, it was decided that the final ritual of Zubrien’s clothes would be performed and a monument would be built in the 10 Biga land plot in the village of Hatimura Kamarkuchi in Kamrup,” wrote Salma.
“The ashes of Zubrien’s outfit will be taken to Yorhat, where a monument will be erected to celebrate its connection to the historic town,” he continued.
