‘The Pit’ renewed for season 3

HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’ has been renewed for season 3. HBO CEO Casey Bloys made the announcement during the Season 2 premiere of “The Pit” on Wednesday, January 7, at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles.

The news comes a day before the premiere of the second season of the Emmy Award-winning medical drama “Noah Wyle,” based on the novel by John Wells. The series, created by R. Scott Gemmill, will premiere in 2025 and will span 15 episodes and tell the story of healthcare workers in a Pittsburgh emergency room. Each season runs over one shift, and each episode covers a one-hour shift.

The first season received 13 Emmy nominations and won five for Best Drama. Drama casting. And Wylie, Katherine LaNasa and Sean Hatosy were presented with acting trophies. On Wednesday, the show was nominated for two acting awards and two DGA awards.

“It’s hard to make a good show, whether it’s a comedy, a drama, or a documentary, but John, Noah and Scott wanted to create a high-quality show, but at the same time it was set up to produce 15 episodes, so the concept of basically having a show in one set meant that the budget was manageable,” Bloys told Variety after winning the Emmy. “And we have a group of people who understand not only how to make 15 episodes, but also how to bring it back year after year. That’s the one thing that I think has taken us away from television: the ability to bring shows back year after year.”

Weil will lead the cast along with Ranasa, Hatosy, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Jaelan Howell, and Shabana Aziz. Sepideh Moafi joined the cast in season 2 as Dr. Al Hashimi.

Wells, Gemmill and Weil will serve as executive producers along with Erin Johntow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich.
