Hulu’s Tell Me Lies fans quickly realised the fascinating chemistry between Stars Grace Van Patten and Jackson White. In the TV adaptation of the Carola Rover novel of the same name, Van Patten plays Baird College freshman Lucy, who meets Junior Stephen of Playboy College, portrayed by White.
Their on-screen romance is pretty dramatic, but Van Patten and White talk about how dependent they are on each other when the camera is turned off. This is their perfect relationship timeline so far.

September 2022
Production began in 2022 and tell us how the couple met during the show’s audition process. As soon as the show premiered in September, fans noticed the chemistry between the leads and wondered if they were really dating. That month, the pair walked together on the red carpet and lied to the Tell Me Lies red carpet screening event for the first time.
They spoke with E again! About filming sex scenes with an intimate coordinator.
“It’s really amazing to see that there was a coordinator of intimacy who really discussed everything and created such a safe environment for us,” the actress said. “Because the scene is so intimate.”
She added, “We were on the same page.”
White said, “This isn’t treated as this big, scary thing. It’s another scene we have to block and something we have to figure out beforehand.”
October 2022
From October, the couple went to confirm one after hinting at a relationship. On October 13th, they were seen at the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2023 fashion show, followed by the Giambattista Valli Dinner.
They also starred together in a Bvlgari commercial.
A few weeks later, Van Patten asks if White is her IRL crash! was asked in the overview. She replied, “Yes, the biggest crash ever.”
While talking to Entertainment Tonight’s Daedleher that month, she was playing around with dating rumors.
“Fans should leave it to you for the mystery. Make it fun. Who knows?” she said. “It’s so much fun to do all of this together. It’s great. I’m not going to stop hanging out with the cast. We hang out all the time.”
But White took seriously that she wasn’t a skinny but not a fat podcast, saying, “All I’m saying is that she’s hooked on (Van Patten) because it’s amazing.
In another interview that month, White believed Van Patten helped him on set.
“Steven was so intense, so manipulative, and sometimes crazy, I struggled with that guy,” he said of identifying with his character. “Then when they cut I had to be myself. It was really tough for me. Grace was so good about distinguishing herself from the character, so I tried to follow it. She’s the best.”

Van Patten then shared a photo of them touching their tongues on the timeline, writing in the caption, “…just lick the time.”
They debuted the red carpet as a couple at the 2022 CFDA Awards in New York.

White’s mother, Katie Sagar, was interviewed about Rachel Bilson’s extensive idea podcast and shared a bit about her son’s relationship.
“My son is on TV and his girlfriend is Lead (too much). They have a love interest and (dovey in real life).
“They had such great chemistry,” she said.
August 2024
Van Patten said in an interview that he was “tened” about filming season 2, with only natural diamonds.
“I was very nervous because he knows me better than anyone else. He knows it pretty well,” she said. “My tension came from knowing when I’m playing. He’ll know when I’m bad, and he’ll be like, ‘No, that’s not the way you do it.’ But I have never felt so safe and comfortable so that I can try things out. ”
She continued. “And we work well together. I love working with him not only because he is my boyfriend, but because he is so talented and he’s giving and giving presentations.”
On August 31st, they participated in the US Open in New York City.
September 2024
While talking to people, Van Patten said it was “trippy” to work with White, saying, “We’re together in real life and know me better than anyone else.”
“It was so weird. It was tough. It seemed like I’d cleaned up these people for a while,” White said.
But they were very clear that their relationship wasn’t like Stephen and Lucy.
“We’re very different, I’m grateful,” Van Patten said. “I love Stephen and Lucy’s dynamics. Each scene is so loaded and tense.”
She said, “We were so different from these characters, since we established a dynamic first season, it was much easier to turn on and off, so honestly, it’s an opportunity to pull out all of our bad feelings.
White then told the decision maker: “Because when it comes to relationships that affect roles, you’re very comfortable with someone. So you’re free to go and try it out. There’s no politeness in it. That’s exactly there.”
The couple hasn’t been filmed together since the show’s premiere, but have not posted much on social media.
August 2025
White attended the premiere of Amanda Knox’s Twisted Story on August 19th as a date for Van Patten at the New York Historical Society. He took a photo with her family.
