Lady Gaga was a guest on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. The singer wore a blue flamenco dress with a symbolic brooch honoring Bad Bunny’s homeland of Puerto Rico. The tribute comes just days after she said she was moved by the rapper’s Grammy Award for Album of the Year last Sunday.
Lady Gaga attended Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show and performed a salsa version of “Die With a Smile.” The two stars danced on stage, with Gaga sporting a dazzling Cinderella blue flamenco dress custom-made by Lure. She accessorized with Chopard earrings and a statement red floral brooch, a special homage to Bad Bunny and his native Puerto Rico. The plant on the brooch is Flor de Maga, the national flower of the American territory.
Gaga incorporated red accents into her look by matching her dress with a matching red lip.
Gaga headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2017, but Bad Bunny’s guest appearance tonight is even more impressive given last week’s Grammy Awards.
There, when Bad Bunny won Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, Gaga was filmed crying in the audience. The Mayhem singer spoke to Entertainment Tonight after the show about why that moment touched her so deeply.
“I’m so happy for him, and you know, what he means to people is so incredibly important,” she said. “He’s an incredible musician and a great human being. He’s an incredibly kind person, and I thought what he just said was incredibly important and incredibly uplifting. What’s going on in this country is incredibly heartbreaking, but we’re so lucky to have a leader like him who stands for truth and what’s right.”
In his speech for Album of the Year, Bad Bunny told the crowd in Spanish, “Puerto Rico, I want you to believe that we are much bigger than 100 x 35 (miles) and that there is nothing we can’t accomplish. Thank you God, thank you the Academy, thank you everyone who believed in me throughout my career. To everyone who worked on this album. Thank you, Mami, for giving birth to me in Puerto.” I love you, Rico. ”
He added in English, “I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their homeland, to pursue their dreams.”
He then returned to Spanish and concluded his speech by saying, “For all those who have lost a loved one and had to keep going strong, this award is for you.”
