Spoiler Alert: Below are the details for “The Masked Singer” Season 14 Episode 1 “Premier,” which aired on FOX on January 7th.
On Wednesday, “The Masked Singer” returned in a big way. Season 14 of the popular Fox celebrity singing contest has begun, and the first to be eliminated was Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz, aka Big Papi.
Disguised in a “Googly Eyes” outfit, Ortiz performed DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What.” Panelist Ken Jeong got Ortiz right. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg was accompanied by Derek Jeter. Robin Thicke thought it was Pedro Martinez. Rita Ora nominates Manny Ramirez
As for the identity of the second elimination (the two dressed as two croissants), Thicke said he thought it was Snooki and The Situation from Jersey Shore, while Chung guessed it was Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. McCarthy Wahlberg named Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley. Ora went with Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. Croissant will be revealed at the beginning of next week’s episode.
The two-hour premiere, a replay of episodes from May 2025 when “The Masked Singer” left the show, began with Ora singing “Golden” by “KPop Demon Hunters” (featuring the voice of fellow panelist Jeong). Later, Chung and Schick also joined in on vocals.
In a series of head-to-head confrontations, Galaxy Girl faced off against Handyman. Pugcasso the queen corgi, Scarab the croissant, Snow cone the stingray, Googly eyes the witch the cat. Defeat Galaxy Girl, Pugcasso, Scarab, Stingray, and Cat Witch.
So Handyman, Queen Corgi, Croissants, Snow Cone, and Googly Eyes were the bottom five. One more vote and the bottom two, Googly Eyes and Croissant, are in danger of being eliminated.
David “Big Papi” Ortiz, who plays Google Eyes, is the first celebrity to be unmasked on season 14 of “The Masked Singer.”
Season 14 will see the return of host Nick Cannon and panelists McCarthy Wahlberg, Chung, Ora, and Thicke.
New this season is “America’s Insider,” where singer, dancer and social media personality Kylie Cantrall shares behind-the-scenes hints and tips with viewers. Twist: Cantrall is costumed, but unmasked for the viewer. So viewers know who she is, but the panelists don’t.
“The Masked Singer” Season 14-themed episodes include homages to “Star Trek,” the ’90s comedy “Clueless,” the comic book series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and the blockbuster movie “The Twilight Saga.” Fox’s new “Fear Factor” reboot will also feature “Fear Factor: House of Fear Night” host Johnny Knoxville, and “Ozzfest Night” will honor the late rocker Ozzy Osbourne, including a special tribute by “The Masked Singer” alum Kelly Osbourne (Season 2’s Ladybug) paying tribute to her father’s musical influence.
Season 14’s 18 masked contestants include Eggplant, Pukasso, Queen Corgi, Croissant, Owl, 14 Karat Carrot, Snow Cone, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, Gyoggly Eyes, Scarab, Handyman, Crane, Le Fou, Pangolin, Stingray, Cat Witch, and Calla Lily.
According to the show, the season 14 contestants have sold a total of 94 million records, earned 47 Teen Choice Award nominations, 12 Emmy nominations, two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one Tony Award win, and one Academy Award nomination.
