Spoiler alert: Details for “The Masked Singer” season 14 episode 9, “Care Bears Night,” which aired March 11 on FOX, are below.
Well, some of the spectators are on the pitch. They think everything is over. Well, it’s now! Former soccer player turned Fox Sports analyst Alexi Lalas was the latest celebrity to be revealed as High Voltage on season 14 of the Fox singing reality competition.
None of the panelists got it right, but Robin Thicke came closest, but Tom Brady, another Fox Sports analyst who covers a different kind of football, was the closest. Ken Jeong guessed Travis Kelce. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg was accompanied by Julian Edelman. I thought Rita Ora was Jason Sudeikis.
Lalas finished his run by playing Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day.” His previous songs included “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. “Miles on It” Kane Brown and Marshmello. And Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”
Here’s what Lalas, who plays High Voltage, said in his first appearance this season: “When I first started my career, the idea of fitting in was my biggest fear. I was always interested in being a leader in my field. Sometimes you have to be a little crazy to get a lot of attention. I listened to my instincts, and billions of people took notice. I’ve been called a patriot, a revolutionary, and someone who’s changing the fabric of American culture. And the Masked singer’s mission is to bring that trophy home. ”
In his second appearance, he added: “I had my own band of brothers. We practiced, won and lost, we went through everything together. But I knew if I wanted higher stakes in the game, I had to do more than just play. So I cut the cord and stood up on my own. It could have been a disaster, but I beat it. I run the business, the band, the podcast, anything to keep me up to date.”
Contestants Pangolin, Pugkasso, High Voltage and Crane opened the show by singing Katrina and the Waves’ “Walking on Sunshine.”
In this week’s episode, the bottom two were Pangolin and High Voltage (who were also the bottom two last week). The two battled it out by playing their own versions of the Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited.” Pangolin was saved and High Voltage was revealed as Larus.
High Voltage gave one more clue before being unmasked: cleats. “The right shoes will get you through all of life’s challenges.”
With High Voltage gone, Pangolin, Galaxy Girl, Stingray, Cat Witch, Pugcasso, and Crane remain in the competition.
Alexi Lalas (High Voltage) joins Jack Wagner (Eggplant), Heidi Montag (Snow Cone), Billy Ray Cyrus (Owl), Teddi Mellencamp (Cara Lilly), Claudia Oshley (Queen Corgi), Taraji P. Henson (Scarab), Tone Locke (Handyman), Tiffany Haddish (Li Foo Foo), and Todd and Julie Chrisley. (Croissant) and David “Big Papi” Ortiz (Google Eyes) are some of the celebrities who have revealed their masks so far on “The Masked Singer” season 14.
Season 14 will see the return of host Nick Cannon and panelists McCarthy Wahlberg, Chung, Ora, and Thicke.
New this season is “America’s Insider,” where singer, dancer and social media personality Kylie Cantrall shares behind-the-scenes hints and tips with viewers. Twist: Cantrall wears a cat witch costume, but only removes her mask for the viewer. So the viewers know who she is, but the panelists don’t.
“The Masked Singer” Season 14-themed episodes include homages to “Star Trek,” the ’90s comedy “Clueless,” the comic book series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and the blockbuster movie “The Twilight Saga.” Fox’s new “Fear Factor” reboot will also feature “Fear Factor: House of Fear Night” host Johnny Knoxville, and “Ozzfest Night” will honor the late rocker Ozzy Osbourne, including a special tribute by “The Masked Singer” alum Kelly Osbourne (Season 2’s Ladybug) paying tribute to her father’s musical influence.
Season 14’s 18 masked contestants include Eggplant, Pukasso, Queen Corgi, Croissant, Owl, 14 Karat Carrot, Snow Cone, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, Gyoggly Eyes, Scarab, Handyman, Crane, Le Fou, Pangolin, Stingray, Cat Witch, and Calla Lily.
According to the show, the Season 14 contestants have collectively sold 94 million records, received 47 Teen Choice Award nominations, 12 Emmy nominations, two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one Tony Award win, and one Academy Award nomination.
