Michelle Obama launches new project.
Through former President Barack Obama’s media company Higher Ground, the former first lady announced a six-part limited series, “IMO: The Look,” featuring her popular podcast “IMO with Michelle Obama” and “Craig Robinson.”
The new show, which will air weekly starting Nov. 5, explores the evolution of Obama’s style through intimate conversations with the creative team behind his wardrobe, makeup and hair. He will also have an intimate conversation about fashion and self-expression with industry change-makers, including ELLE editor-in-chief Nina Garcia, Jane Fonda, Bethan Hardison, Elaine Welteroth, and Jenna Lyons.
The release of the podcast coincides with her new book, The Look, which will be released on November 4th and also chronicles her style journey.
Regarding his decision to write the book, President Obama said, “During our family’s time in the White House, my appearance was constantly being dissected, including what I wore and how I styled my hair. For a while now, I’ve wanted to reclaim more of that story and share it in my own way. I’m grateful to be at a stage in my life where I can freely express myself by wearing what I like and doing what feels true to me. And I’m excited to be able to share some of what I’ve been feeling.” I learned how to do it. “
She continued, “The Look is about more than fashion. It’s about confidence, identity, and the power of authenticity. My hope is that this book sparks conversations and reflections on how we see ourselves and the way our society defines beauty.”
