Netflix has announced a teaser and has added new cast members to “The Last Samurai Standing.”

The six-episode series, dubbed “a homage to the fortitude of warriors who lived in turbulent times,” will win an invitation to the screen section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, adding a festival to the streaming giant’s growing Asian content.

Action Planner producer and star Okada junichi has expanded the ensemble cast of the fatal battle royale drama. Five new cast members have been revealed: General Mura, General Toshiyoshi, General Okazaki Taiyo, Okazaki Ki Yurusa (successor of the Kyoto School of Swordsmanship), Iura Arata as Minister of Family Iura Arata, Oshima Ayumu, Chief of Tanaka Tosh, as Nagase Shinpay, Secretary of the Ball.

The newcomers join the previously announced star-studded lineup including Fujisaka Yumia, Kiyohara Kaya, Hiroshima, Sometani Shota, Saotome Taichi, Endo Yuya, Fuchikami Yasushi, Jo Kairi, Yamada Takayuki, Ichinose Wataru, Yoshioka Riho, Ninomiya Kazunari, Tanaka Hayashi, and Ito hideaki.

Director Misihito, who works with Okada, has made the promise that it is a particularly obvious visual sight in the large proximity sequence of Tenoriji Temple. The set pieces were filmed over several days and had to be run by more than 1,000 cast and crew members.

According to the production notes, Fujii and Okada “push the boundaries of visual storytelling and blend modern CG advances with practical effects to provide some of the most realistic and visceral action scenes ever seen on Japanese television.”

The series is based on a novel from Imamura Shogo’s “Ikusagami” series published by Kodansha Bunko. Fujii will direct alongside Yamaguchi Kento and Yamamoto So Prince, with screenplay duties Yamaguchi and Yashiro Risa taking on the screenplay duties.

The production team includes music composer Omama Takahashi, cinematographers keisuke and Yamada hiroki, and production designer Miyamori Yui. Miyamoto Masae handled the costume design, while Yokohama Jun oversaw the VFX work.

Executive producer Kadoshima Takahashijima and producer shed Oshida Kosuke concluded the Office Shirous main production team with Netflix’s planning and production obligations.

The series will premiere on Netflix on November 13th.
