Guy Moon, the Emmy-nominated composer for the animated shows “The Fairly Odd Parents” and “Danny Phantom,” has died. He was 63 years old.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, President Moon died on Thursday, January 8, from “traumatic injuries” sustained in a Los Angeles traffic accident.
His family confirmed the incident in a statement shared to his Facebook page on Saturday, January 10, writing, “We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved patriarch Guy Moon. He passed away in a car accident Thursday morning.”

The statement continued: “As we stand united in the depths of seemingly insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage, using the tools he gave us in his beautiful life.
Moon’s family concluded: “He left an undeniable legacy and will be greatly missed by us, his family, and the countless people whose lives he touched.”
According to a report by NBC Los Angeles, Moon moved to California from his home state of Wisconsin in 1986. He is best known for composing the music for several animated shows directed by Butch Hartman, including The Fairly Odd Parents (2001-2017), Danny Phantom (2004-2007), and Tough Puppy (2010-2015), for which he received four Emmy nominations.
According to Deadline, he also wrote the music for the 2021 Johnny Test Netflix reboot Billy and Mandy’s Grim Adventures (2001) and Cow and Chicken (1997-1990). He is said to have composed scores for numerous films, including three Fairly Odd Parents films, the 1990s Brady Bunch films, Minority Report (2002), and Fight Club (1999).
Hartman, 61, responded to Moon’s death on her Instagram Story on Saturday. “I don’t have any words yet because there aren’t enough words. I’ll be releasing a statement soon. Guy was my friend, my brother, and my family,” the animator wrote, adding, “My heart is breaking.”

As shared on his IMDB page, Moon’s last credit was composing music for the 2025 series “The Artist.”
He is survived by his wife and three children, according to Soundtrack Music Associates.
Moon’s family plans to celebrate his birthday on February 7th in Los Angeles and then again in his hometown.
