A breakthrough moment for internet detectives.
After the final trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released on Tuesday, an observant fan spotted an interesting editing error.
In a shot of Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) wearing a dark gray suit, black boots, and oversized sunglasses crossing a New York City street, a bystander in a taxi can be seen filming the scene on his cell phone.
“This girl holding her phone outside her trailer window is annoying,” one social media user wrote to X, along with a screenshot of the moment.
Followers quickly flocked to the comments section to share their two cents about the hilarious mishap.
“Because it’s Andy Sachs. A million girls would kill for that job!” joked one fan, while another added, “People will say it’s her first time visiting New York.”
“And the camera captured her perfectly!” a third person chimed in.
Meanwhile, audiences will soon be able to see Little Failure on the big screen, as the long-awaited sequel hits theaters early next month.
This new project comes 20 years after the original The Devil Wears Prada became an instant cult classic in 2006.
In the OG movie, Sachs works as an assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the ruthless editor-in-chief of the high fashion magazine Runway.
Streep’s character famously resembled former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The film was originally based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, one of Winter’s former assistants.
Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt will also reprise their roles as art director Nigel and Miranda’s former assistant Emily.
This time around, Emily has moved from being an assistant to a rival executive, while Sachs has climbed the career ladder to features editor.
But one familiar face who won’t be returning is Adrian Grenier. The actor played Sacks’ boyfriend, Nate Cooper, in the first film.
Grenier told Page Six that he “of course” wanted to be involved in the second film, but that he thought fans’ reactions to his character might have turned him off.
“We’re all fans of this movie, whether we’re in it or not,” he said last month. “Obviously I was disappointed that I wasn’t approached for a sequel, but I also understand that there’s some backlash to the character of Nate, so maybe that has something to do with it. But I think it just leaves room for a spinoff.”
Audiences branded Cooper an uncooperative and immature boyfriend, which initially shocked Grenier.
“All the memes that came out were shocking to me,” he told Entertainment Weekly in 2021. “It didn’t occur to me until I started thinking about it seriously, and maybe that’s because I was as immature as Nate at the time. And in a lot of ways, he was very selfish and self-centered, and it was all about him. He didn’t put himself out there to support Andy’s career.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in theaters on May 1st.
