Fallon Noble is a home mother in Glenhead, NY, and balances her maternal demands while growing her content creation career.
Between filming, editing and managing collaboration, 31-year-old days are often crammed into one another. As her husband commutes to New York City four days a week for work, she often finds herself fading.
To ease the daily pressure, the couple recently decided to welcome 23-year-old Nera Prochazkova from the Czech Republic into their home.
“The AU pair wakes up with our daughter on the day she works and acts as a mother’s helper throughout the week,” Noble tells people. “I’m still there all day, but I might run out of business/events so I’m happy to have the flexibility to do it with her help.”
One mother found Prochazkova through the Culture Care Au pair’s agency after deeming that using an Au pair was a more cost-effective option compared to hiring a full-time nanny.
“I was also drawn to the idea of cultural immersion and the opportunity to connect with young, like-minded people, especially since I’m alone at home,” says Noble.

Given that this was the first time a couple had used an AU pair, they spent time in the process and set up some phone calls before making a final decision.
“From the first time I saw her video resume on the app, I knew (Prochazkova) was the perfect fit for us,” Noble reveals. “She was very sweet, softly spoken, polite, and had a great energy about her. She had nephews at the same age as our daughter and has had a lot of experience with young children. We came up with it from the first chat.”
After they agreed to move Proshazkova with them, Noble and her husband wanted to give her the space she felt like herself – especially since she will be with them for at least a year.
When the couple first moved into the house, she says the basement was “basically just dirty.” Wanting space for a family movie night and a playroom for daughter, the couple invested around $100,000 to transform it, adding floors, built-in and other appliances to make it a cozy and functional space. Currently, the rooms have a bar, media centre and even their own bathroom.
Once the Au pair enters the picture, the renovated rooms, which were rarely used at the time, became the perfect solution for Prochazkova’s private living area.
“I wanted her to feel really welcome and home, especially since she came from another country and left so late,” Noble shares. “It was important that she had a space where she felt comfortable, had privacy and could really settle down.”

To turn the family room into a private bedroom in Prochazkova, Noble spent about $800 personalizing the space.
“We added a soft, fuzzy rug to warm the tile floor. We upcycled a dresser we found in the neighborhood, gave it a coat of fresh paint and spray painted it with gold in the hardware to match the modern neutral aesthetic,” she explains.
“To welcome both (Prochazkova) and help her stay home, I hung a New York print, put a Prague coffee table book on the shelf, tied a small part of her hometown.”

The Noble also included a full-length mirror for a small bar area with outfit checks, candles, fresh flowers and snacks.
She confirmed that the mini fridge at Prochazkova had drinks in stock and that the bathroom was full of skincare products and blow dryers.
To complete the space, Noble added stylish obstructions and clothing racks, and sourced most items from Amazon and Homesense.

The Au pair had space from the short video clip she was sent to, as well as the general idea of facets she had with Noble, but in reality “overwhelmed her expectations.”
“The space was even bigger and more beautiful than she had imagined,” Noble reveals. “She was particularly excited about the skincare products and the small thoughtful touch I added just for her.”
Prochazkova has only been with Noble and her family for nearly two weeks, but Noble admits that it has been a “great experience” so far.
“We are gradually becoming more comfortable with each other and our relationship is beginning to feel like a friendship,” she tells people.
