The first official trailer for Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, has been released.
The Chronology of Water, adapted by Stewart from Lidia Yuknavich’s memoir, tells the story of a young competitive swimmer who struggles with childhood trauma and addiction, and ultimately overcomes her troubled past by communicating her life experiences through writing. After its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, The Forge acquired the North American rights to Stewart’s film.
The Forge plans to release the film theatrically in December, followed by a wider release in January. Imogen Poots plays Yuknavitch. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Jim Belushi, Thora Birch, Charlie Carrick, Susannah Flood, Kim Gordon, and Tom Sturridge.
Stewart said he spent eight years developing The Chronology of Water and is grateful the film will be released theatrically with the full support of the award.
“Films like ours should be born on screen, and I’m grateful to have found a team as passionate as they are about supporting independent filmmakers,” she said.
