Teyana Taylor speaks about her fight with security at the 2026 Oscars ceremony.
“I think the first thing people do is definitely make assumptions, but at the end of the day, I don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and unfounded,” the actress told TMZ on Sunday night after footage of the altercation spread on social media.
The One Battle After Another star said there was “nothing strange” about the incident, which happened after the film won Best Picture at the end of the show.
“It’s okay. Everyone is having a good time and the security guards are working hard,” she explained. “Things like that happen all the time. But everything is fine. I’m happy.”
A source who witnessed the incident told Variety that the scuffle broke out as the cast and crew of “One Battle After Another” and Warner Bros. directors Pam Abdi and Mike DeLuca were about to go on stage to take a group photo.
“Teyana came down to pick up Pam and when she tried to go back upstairs, a security guard forcibly stopped her from returning to the stage and placed a hand on Teyana,” the source claimed.
The security guard told Taylor that he “owed an apology,” which made Taylor “even more angry,” she said.
Security Industry Specialists, Inc. apologized for the incident in a statement to Variety.
“Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests. We regret that there was an accidental contact during that interaction and the situation escalated,” the company said in a statement.
“This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team. We have addressed this issue internally to ensure this situation never occurs again.”
Page Six has reached out to Taylor’s representatives for comment.
Taylor was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in One Battle After Another, but the award went to Amy Madigan for Weapons.
But when the film won Best Picture, beating out The Sinners, Hamnet, Marty Supreme and six other films, she ended up celebrating on stage later that night.
After the final awards of the night were called, Taylor playfully put director Paul Thomas Anderson in a headlock.
In total, “One Battle After Another” won six Oscars out of 13 nominations.
The film also won trophies for Best Director for Anderson, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Casting, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing.
In addition to Taylor and Penn, the film also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Regina King, and Chase Infinity.
