As Michelangelo would say, “Cowabunga!” Our favorite crime-fighting Turtle brothers are returning to our screens.
Fathom Entertainment, Saga Arts, and Warner Bros. Pictures will re-release Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze in theaters nationwide for one week from March 13th to March 19th in celebration of its 35th anniversary.
The 1991 sequel will be released theatrically for the first time in a newly restored 4K format, giving longtime fans and new audiences the chance to revisit the fan-favorite film in improved picture quality and scale.
The announcement follows the huge success of last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 35th Anniversary theatrical event. Originally scheduled for a two-day release, the re-release was expanded to four weeks and became a top ten domestic box office hit, grossing nearly $3.7 million.
In addition to the feature presentation, the March Anniversary Engagement will include exclusive bonus content. The film will be preceded by an unreleased featurette titled “Ninja Turtles: Revolutions” featuring TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. The film gives fans a chance to get a personal look into Eastman’s creative process, as he looks back at the evolution, mythology, and enduring legacy of the Ninja Turtles from his own drawing desk.
The theatrical revival is part of a new wave of Turtlemania, bringing the series back to theaters for families, longtime fans, and a new generation discovering the half-shelled hero on the big screen.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze will be shown exclusively in theaters from Friday, March 13th through Thursday, March 19th, with showtimes varying by location.
