Taylor Swift’s mother made sure her future son-in-law Travis Kelce was well fed during Thanksgiving.
In the fifth new episode of Taylor’s Disney+ docuseries The End of an Era, released on Tuesday, Dec. 23, the 36-year-old asks her mom, Andrea Swift, to make her fiancée Kelsey’s favorite Thanksgiving dish, ribs, backstage at her Ellas tour in Toronto in November 2024.
Andrea, 67, suggested to Taylor backstage during a stop in the city on tour that they should try something different with turkey for Thanksgiving. “Have you ever heard of spatchcocking a turkey? I’m thinking of giving it a try this Thanksgiving,” Andrea said.
“I don’t know if I should enjoy eating a turkey. Remember when I tried to fry a turkey?” Taylor replied.
“It was a disaster,” Andrea recalls. “I think there was oil in my garden for about six months, but I couldn’t eat anything else.”

Taylor then asked her mother for a special meal for Kelsey, 36.
“So, can you make some big ribs for Travis?” she asked Andrea. “I’m making those ribs for Travis,” Andrea replied.

Taylor then revealed the funny nickname Kelsey gave the dish. “He affectionately calls them dinosaur bones,” she said.
“A Texas-sized guy has Texas-sized ribs,” Andrea said, referring to the 6-foot-5 NFL star.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Taylor and Kelsey spent Thanksgiving 2024 together with both of their families, as Taylor’s parents hosted Kelsey’s in Nashville.
A source said this was the couple’s “first Thanksgiving together” despite Taylor’s busy schedule the previous year, when she appeared on her Elas tour in South Africa. The two started dating in the summer of 2023.
“Taylor and her family were excited to host Kelsey’s this year,” a source tells PEOPLE. “(Travis’ brother) Jason (Kels) was there as well with his family and kids. It was a very festive and special time.”
In a previous episode of the docuseries The End of an Era, Taylor said that she once found it difficult to balance relationships and touring life, but everything changed when she started dating Kelsey.
“Relationships on tour is something I’ve always really struggled with because I always felt like touring was taking away relationships,” she said. “No matter how much I tried and tried, somehow I just couldn’t do both and felt like I was growing both at the same time.”
