NBC will air a special episode of “The Tonight Show” on Friday featuring an extended cut of a recent interview between Jimmy Fallon and Taylor Swift.
Swift appeared on “The Tonight Show” on Monday to promote her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” Variety reported that Monday’s broadcast excluded some of the interview that was later posted online. On Friday, NBC will air the moment in place of Fallon’s interviews with other guests who appeared on Monday’s episode.
Among the segments featured will be Swift’s explanation of why she won’t be performing at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show (Roc Nation recently announced Bad Bunny as the headliner).
“Jay-Z has always been very good to me. Our (business) team is really close,” she told Fallon of the Roc Nation founder. “They sometimes call and ask, ‘What does she think?’ It’s not like a formal offer or a boardroom conversation, it’s, ‘How does she feel about it in general?'”
“And we can always tell him the truth, which is that I’m in love with a guy who plays that sport on the actual field,” she explained, referring to her fiancé Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. “For example,[pro football]is violent chess. It’s a gladiator without a sword. It’s dangerous. I’m locked into what that guy is doing on the field during the season. Can you imagine if he was out on the field every week, risking his life, playing this very dangerous, very pressured, high-intensity sport? And I think, ‘What should my choreography be? I think I should do two.’ It would be great if you changed the verse of “Shake It Up” to “Blank” and “Space” to “Cruel Summer”! ”
“The Tonight Show” is executive produced by Lorne Michaels, with producers including Gerald Bradford and showrunner Chris Miller.
