Taylor Swift appears to be throwing shade at her and fiancé Travis Kelce’s exes in her new music video for her song “Oparite.”
The ’90s-themed visual follows the unlikely pairing of Swift and co-star Domhnall Gleeson, with the pop superstar filling his romantic partner’s void with a large rock.
Meanwhile, the actor does the same for a small cactus.
The items appear to represent Swift’s ex-girlfriend Joe Alwyn and Kelsey’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole.
Swift has hinted in the past that she is carrying the weight of her relationship with the British actor, even though Cactus only causes pain when she finds love.
In the video, the musician sprays himself with a “cutting-edge chemical” called Opalite that promises to improve relationships, perhaps because he believes he’s the one in need of repair.
By the end of the visual, Swift and Gleason come together and a message flashes on screen: “Locke and Cactus married in a small, intimate ceremony after meeting through Opalite.”
The message is, “Trash will remain trash.”
On “Opalite,” Swift sings about moving on from a “past lover” to a partner she’s “never met before.”
Notably, the 36-year-old is currently planning her wedding to Kelce, who proposed in August 2025. The couple began dating in the summer of 2023 after ending his relationship with Alwyn and Nicole.
Swift seems to take direct aim at Nicole on “Opalite” with the lyrics, “You never understood/Why you felt so alone/You were really in it/She was on the phone/And you were just a pose.”
After the song debuted in October 2025, a social media video resurfaced showing Kelce, 36, once complaining to an influencer about using her phone too much.
The lyrics also seem to imply that Nicole was with the NFL star for the fame. The two dated on and off for five years from 2017 to 2022, and appeared on the red carpet several times during their relationship.
As for Swift, she and Alwyn had a super private relationship for six years, from 2017 to 2023.
In addition to Gleeson, the visual for Opalite also features cameos from Graham Norton, Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith and Lewis Capaldi.
Fans recall that Gleason cheekily asked Swift to appear in her music video during the group’s appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” in October 2025.
That same month, the singer-songwriter revealed that “Oparite” was Kelce’s favorite song from her album Life of a Showgirl.
“He loves that,” she gushed during an appearance on “Capital Breakfast.”
Swift also delved deeper into the song’s meaning, explaining that the football player’s birthstone is an opal, which, like happiness, can be “artificial.”
“So that’s kind of what this song is about,” she said. “The juxtaposition of the two.”
