Taylor Swift has been eagerly awaiting Travis Kelce’s proposal, revealed Ed Kelce, the father of the NFL star.
On Tuesday, Ed confirmed Page 6’s exclusive report that Travis and Swift were engaged nearly two weeks ago, sharing that the Kansas City Chiefs had almost delayed the proposal despite Ed and Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, told him he wouldn’t.
“He was planning to put off that until this week,” Ed told ABC News 5 in Cleveland.
“And I told him over and over, you know, you can do it on the side of the road and do a place that makes it a special event… when you’re on one knee and ask her to marry you,” he added.
Ed said he already knew that Travis was planning on making a proposal a few months ago.
“We actually went to (Kansas City) on a Sunday night (Kansas City). This was an ESPN broadcast of “Kingdom” and his mother and I went back to his house for dinner with him. Taylor cooked dinner.
The couple announced their engagement Tuesday in a joint Instagram post of romantic photos from the proposal.
Ed told the local outlet that Travis had popped a question into his garden at the Lee, Missouri summit, but Page 6 exclusively confirmed that the tight end had descended to one knee in his backyard at Leewood in Kang.
Ed praised Taylor for Travis’ happiness while talking to people at the premiere of “The Kingdom” on Sunday.
“There’s no doubt about that,” Ed said. “They obviously have two people very in love.”

Travis reiterated his father’s feelings in a recent GQ interview, saying, “When we don’t have a camera, we’re just two people in love.”
“It could be perceived as something else because of how much it is being talked about and how much it is tracked every time we go out,” he continued.
“But I’d say it’s normal…Even though it was being tracked from a media perspective, it happened very organically. It still happened very organically.”
