Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex Dakota Mortensen has filed a restraining order against the reality star and requested temporary custody of their son following domestic violence allegations, Page Six has confirmed.
Mortensen requested a protection order in Utah on Tuesday, citing incidents that occurred on February 23 and February 24, TMZ reports.
The “Mormon Wives” star allegedly strangled him during a heated argument, according to filings.
Mortensen claimed Paul pushed her against a window and punched her, so much so that she had to remove her hand from around his neck.
He described the incident as “chaotic” and “horrifying” and claimed his son Ever, who was also at the scene, was woken up from a nap by Paul’s screams.
Mortensen said she called 911, but was cut off and “manipulated” into reporting that her son was sick, the report said.
Ms Mortensen claimed Paul threatened to harm her and was “emotionally unstable”.
After the situation calmed down, Mortensen put her son back to sleep, but said he woke up because of her “aggressive behavior.” He then left Paul’s house with Ever to ensure his safety.
The next night, Mortensen and Paul reunited, but Paul allegedly threw his cell phone against the wall and prevented him from leaving the house.
When Mortensen got into his truck, the content creator allegedly began punching him and threw a drink at him.
“During this incident, I was unable to safely leave my home and the custody agreement meant that my child was left inside the home and under her supervision during the chaos,” he claimed, admitting that at one point he had to push Paul away.
According to TMZ, when Mortensen left the house, he received a message from Paul saying that he had a nosebleed and needed medical attention.
He described the message as an attempt to avoid calling the police, writing that he was “genuinely concerned for (his) safety and the safety and well-being of (his) children.”
Mortensen also reportedly suffered bruises and cuts.
Representatives for Mortensen and Paul did not immediately respond to Page Six for comment.
In a photo obtained by TMZ, Mortensen encountered Paul’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, with whom she shares daughter Indi, 8, and son Ocean, 5, in court.
Sources told the outlet that both men were there to obtain separate confidentiality orders against Paul.
On Monday, People magazine confirmed that Paul is being investigated for domestic violence against Mortensen, as filming for “Mormon Wives” is suspended.
“There’s something pretty serious going on with Taylor’s (Frankie Paul) past and they’ll see what happens,” a source told the outlet. “They’re taking a break until that’s resolved.”
A spokesperson for the Draper City, Utah, Police Department told People that “contact with the parties involved occurred on the 24th and 25th (of February)” in the case, noting that the charges were “a two-way street.”
Paul broke his silence on the drama in an interview with People during the press preview for season 22 of The Bachelorette.
“Just the timing is difficult and important,” she says. “Every premiere I’ve been to, I feel like I’ve never fully enjoyed it. So this is another premiere…It’s been a lot of work and it took everything to get here today.”
And on Thursday, TMZ released footage of Paul violently attacking Mortensen in 2023 in front of his daughter.
At the time, Paul was arrested for allegedly throwing a chair at Mortensen, which hit his now 8-year-old daughter Indi, and he was later charged with misdemeanor assault in the presence of a child, criminal mischief and domestic violence.
However, Paul said on “Call Her Daddy” in 2025 that “all charges in the case have been dropped.”
Paul’s rep told Page Six that the leaked video was “conveniently taken out of context” and accused Mortensen of “an endless, desperate, high-profile, destructive campaign to harm Taylor with no regard for the impact on the child.”
Paul was on the press this week promoting his season of The Bachelorette, which was scheduled to premiere on Sunday, March 22nd.
ABC announced that it had canceled Paul’s season in light of the leaked domestic violence video, telling Page Six, “We have made the decision not to move forward with a new season of The Bachelorette at this time and are focused on supporting our family.”
Paul and Mortensen dated from 2022 to 2024. She is also married to ex-husband Tate Paul, and they have daughter Indi, 8, and son Ocean, 5.
As revealed in the Season 4 finale of SLOMW, Paul and Mortensen started dating the night before he left to film the ABC dating show.
