The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) announced two major industry partnerships at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), marking new efforts to expand Taiwan’s presence across film, television and digital entertainment.
The bureau signed a co-production memorandum with Japan’s K2 Pictures Inc. and announced a digital gaming fund with Taiwan’s Lunta Ventures, reflecting a strategy that combines global cooperation and targeted investments to accelerate the globalization of Taiwan’s content.
The agreement with K2 Pictures outlines a co-investment, co-production and content financing framework aimed at raising the global profile of Taiwanese film projects. The agreement was signed by Tingli Hu, Deputy CEO of TAICCA, and Muneyuki Kii, Founder and Chairman of K2 Pictures.
Kii said the partnership reflects K2’s growing commitment to Taiwan as a creative ally. “We will be filming in Taiwan and collaborating with Taiwanese talent. Our goal is to bring the strength of Asian cinema to audiences around the world,” he said, adding that the partnership is expected to deepen the long-term relationship between the two countries.
K2 filmmakers announced at last year’s Cannes include Japanese icons Hirokazu Kore-eda, Shunji Iwai and Takashi Miike.
Mr. Ting emphasized that creative exchanges between Taiwan and Japan are gaining momentum. “Taiwan’s film and television production continues to capture the world’s attention. We believe this partnership will open new avenues for internationally competitive Taiwan-Japan co-production. TAICCA will continue to connect local talent with global resources to ensure Taiwan’s stories resonate around the world.”
In the gaming sector, TAICCA and Lunta Ventures have jointly launched the Digital Games Fund, a new vehicle aimed at supporting Taiwan’s original gaming IP from early development to commercialization. At the signing ceremony, Lunta Ventures Chairman Hsieh Meng-Gong emphasized the foundation’s mission: “Through our cooperation with TAICCA, we hope to take Taiwan’s gaming industry to new heights. We hope to bring Taiwan to the global spotlight and guide the industry toward new opportunities in the future.”
TAICCA continues to position Taiwan as a new hub for creative collaboration in Asia by promoting partnerships across both film and digital games. At TCCF, TAICCA further expands its international standing by adding two MOUs with Japan’s TOHAN and South Korea’s CLB to push Taiwanese comics onto the world stage.
