“GMA3” alum TJ Holmes and Amy Robach’s once scandalous affair has actually gone away.
“We’ve been sharing with you guys that we’re engaged, and we’ve only been engaged for about a month,” Robach said on Tuesday’s episode of the Amy & TJ podcast.
“We wanted to let you all know before others did. I guess we’ve probably learned that lesson about our relationship in the past,” Holmes chimed in.
Holmes, 48, said Robach, 52, wore her engagement ring in public “in front of everyone” in “crowds of tens of thousands of people” and “no one said anything.”
“I was in three huge football stadiums for three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring so proudly, so excited, and kept waiting for someone to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what is that?’ And it never happened,” Robach said.
She speculated that onlookers and their loved ones were probably being “polite” and explained that those close to them “understand what[they]are going through and don’t want to pry.”
“That may have been the case,” Robach added.
“It wasn’t a secret, but no one asked!” Holmes added that aides would be reprimanded for not paying more attention to her fiancée’s newfound shine.
Holmes claimed only 10 people, including close family members, knew about the engagement and warned against spreading “fabricated” rumors about the proposal.
He reassured listeners that he and Robach will likely share details of their special moments in the near future.
A source told Us Weekly in June that the proposal had been “on the table for some time.” Sources said Holmes and Robach also plan to invite their former spouses, Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue, respectively, to the wedding.
Coincidentally, Fiebig and Shue are currently dating and reportedly moved in together in February.
Holmes and Robach sparked engagement rumors in March after she sported a giant ring on her left ring finger at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Later that month, he referred to her as his “spouse” on the podcast “I Do, Part 2.”
The mother-of-two previously said she was in no rush to marry Holmes. Her divorce from Shue was finalized in March 2023, and Holmes settled her divorce from Fiebig in October of the same year.
“There’s no urgency in the sense that I’m 51 years old. There’s no need to rush anything,” she said on the “I Do, Part 2” podcast in September 2024.
“I think I’ve rushed through everything in my life, but he knows that I want to get married, and I know that he wants to get married.”
Holmes and Robach’s relationship first made headlines in November 2022, when the two, who were still married to their ex-spouse, were photographed as more than business associates. Although the two denied having an affair and said they were separated from their spouses at the time, they were still fired from the ABC News morning show following an internal investigation.
“We lost jobs that we loved because we love each other,” Holmes said on “Amy & TJ,” which debuted in December 2023.
Since then, the two have been on a roll and aren’t shy when it comes to showing heavy PDA. The couple shocked onlookers by getting cozy with each other at a tourism event held at the Paley Center for Media in Manhattan on June 2nd.
“They were talking to someone and TJ just put his hand down her pants,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail. “He slipped his hand down her shorts and physically touched her buttocks. … It felt very inappropriate to do that in front of everyone.”
“At one point, she grabbed his butt,” another source told the magazine.
